Hey. I'm new to this board but LOVE broadway. I'm in school as a theater major. I recently got the lead in my college's production of "The It Girl." Well, the Male Lead role, i'm not the It Girl haha. Has anyone ever heard of this show? I never have until i auditioned for it, but it's a really good show. It's well written and all the songs are catchy.
It had a production at the York a few seasons ago and was supposed to be opening Off Broadway about now, but the whole production was canned-I think for lack of funding. Somehow they managed to offer several actors roles in said procution before cancelling it-seems to me it might be a brighter idea to make sure the money's all in place before promising roles to performers who will then turn down other paying work.
It was not "about" Clara Bow - it was based on one of her movies = "IT".
The musical stared Jean Louisa Kelly, from the sitcom "Yes Dear", the movies "The Fantasticks", "Mr. Holland's Opus" and Uncle Buck" and the original cast of INTO THE WOODS when she was 15(She was Snow White at the end, and was Little Red's understudy).
It's a really good musical. I'm not one for the cheesy period musicals, but this was is really good. I don't know how the York Theater Company did it, but i love our sets and costumes. It's a really cool musical. And it's my first black box show, so i'm anxious about that one.
