I was in the city last weekend and checked at TKTS to see what was available. The shows you mentioned were there as were BOY FROM OZ, LITTLE SHOP, NEVER GONNA DANCE, SINGULAR SENSATION, WONDERFUL TOWN....I guess you could say every show was available except LION KING.
yeah i've never seen the Lion King there. i felt bad for this lady that was next to me and she waited for like 3 hours to find out it wasnt there. she brought her kids from Spain just to see it.it was sad.
LION KING has been on the TKTS boards sporadically. Don't remember if WICKED was there.
As far as the LION KING lady is concerned, if she was flying her kids in from Spain to see it, she should have purchased her tickets in advance. If she could afford transatlantic airfare, she couold afford to pay full price for her tickets. I wouldn't feel sorry for a dipsy doodle like that.
it was sorta funny that this "dipsy doodle" was surprised at how much reg ticktes were. she freakin stayed at the Marriot Marquis which is not exactly 100 a night! and she wanted to know if cabaret was a better show instead. we kept telling her that it was not a family show and every 5 min she asked if it was a family show. i dont know what was her mental state at the time. she was odd.
I rarely ever go to tkts, except (a couple of times) on a last minute thing and even then, I go with the attitude: "Whatever is available". There are allways so many discounts available on broadwaybox.com and I prefer to make plans ahead of time. Who wouldn't? And yeah, if you're flying in, and staying in a fancy, expensive hotel, what's the problem with the $100 a ticket it takes to see a show? Next time, stay at The Ed like I do and save your money for the tix.
