Ok guys, give Tiny a break here. All she did was post a review. Yes with all the othe stuff it might be overwhelming, but everyone else posted the review they found. Be glad a new thread wasn't started for that review.
I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember and do the same thing every morning...for the rest of my life. - Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick...BOOM!
He wasn't saying that Rent is bad, Princess. Honestly, every show could probably use a little bit of editing. There are things that could be taken out of Rent, just like there are things that could be taken out of most other shows. Relax.
Anyway, Brooklyn. Apparently the newspaper in my town upstate reviewed it. Someone saved me a copy of it for when I go home, but apparently they loved it. When I heard this, I almost rolled over laughing - not AT Brooklyn, but at my newspaper. They can't stand and don't "get" anything with depth whatsoever, but don't shut up about things like Mamma Mia. If it's as funny as I think it's going to be, I'll post some. Oy.
"It is amazing how one show can ignite so many different reactions."
Not really. It happens with every show. I've never heard of a show that was unanimously loved or hated.
I'm still not sure why Brooklyn is constantly compared to Rent. They have nothing in common.
PS - If Rent had 30 minutes chopped off, it wouldn't make sense and it probably wouldn't have gone on to win the Pulitzer, Tony and various other awards.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
Brooklyn sure didn't "fly by" for me. Sadly, I can't remember ever scanning a Playbill so many times just to count the number of songs left 'til the end.
I agree.... the "Rent" comment makes me want to puke !!! This review sounds like it written by one of the kids on the "Disney Channel". "Rent" is absolutely brilliant compared to "Brooklyn". "BROOKLYN" SUX !!! There, I said it !!!
