Jimmy Ludwig (Jamie) Norm Lewis (Tad) Gavin Creel (Michael) Maya Days (Amanda) Eden Espinosa (Coma Baby) Michael Goldstrom (Blues Man, Chuck Bean) Liz Larsen (Clara) Annmarie Milazzo (Mother) Jayne Patterson (Vicky) Francesca Vannucci (Mary O'Brien)
So...for someone who grew up in this world...very briefly mind you...the film was a big wake up call for me. The musical is not brilliant, but boy does it have its moments. The song "Brother", sung by Gavin, is so gorgeous. And Annmarie, who has been with the process from its inception, is absolutely amazing as Jamie's mother. Her songs are haunting. Not one person had a dry eye including all of the cast members.
Now...my 3 favorite parts to this were...Norm, Gavin and Jimmy. There is not much to say about Norm Lewis...except...WOW! Gavin...sigh...what a voice. And each time he opened his mouth as Jaime's brother, you just wanted to hold him. (BG2...I know you do!!! LOL!) Now on to Jimmy....I think all I can say is that he was more amazing than I could ever imagine. I have heard TSMrW's version and was quite impressed...but Jimmy was so vulnerable at times that I think all the women in the audience would have offered him hugs if he had asked. (Sorry LD! I know...he's taken!!! Damn girl! U lucky!)
If anyone else saw it, I would be very curious to know what you all thought. Also, I will say that Maya Days was in better than fine form tonight. I have seen her many a time in JCS and was not as impressed as I was tonight.
And tomorrow....BFO!!!!!! WOOHOOOO!
