Just visited www.wireimages.com and www.gettyimages.com (under "editorial") and searched for Patrick Wilson and the Actors Fund event on Sunday 4/4. A whole bunch of wonderful pics of him, Sir Ben Kingsley, Anjelica Huston, etc on-stage for the reading.

Patrick looks so "at home" doing live theatre. I hope that the sights and sounds of being on stage prompt a return in the near future.

Also--whoever got to go (tears well up here for a moment)
Please give us details! It looks like it was a fabulous event.
Congrats to all who worked so hard on that project. :o)

Look for my write-up on the event, which should be posted on the site in the coming hour. And if you want a real "review" PM me and I'll give you the dirt.

Is this the same Daisy Egan as in Marry Lenox? How old is she now? Also, was this an adapted play or did they just read the screenplay? It sounds as if they just read the movie.

"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.

From Liz Smith's Column:

What do you think of the last couple of thoughts?

PLAYWRIGHT DAVID RAMBO on Sunday put together another one of his increasingly well- attended stage adaptations of famous films, benefiting the Actors' Fund of America. It was "Sunset Boulevard," the great Billy Wilder-Charles Brackett tale of Norma Desmond, her writer-lover Joe Gillis, and Max, the butler/ chauffeur/ex-husband and director of the grand but loony star.

Angelica Huston did Norma, and word is she was magnificent. (So magnificent, in fact, that Rambo spontaneously offered to direct her onstage in a "real" play. Just as spontaneously, Angelica said, "Why, yes, I will!") Ben Kingsley played Max and sexy, sensitive Patrick Wilson of "Angels in America" and "The Alamo" was Joe, a guy who only wants to write a good screenplay - just not Norma's "comeback" as Salome.

The famous director Stanley Donen appeared as the famous director Cecil B. DeMille. Stefanie Powers put in a bit as Hedda Hopper (Hedda had one of the film's great moments. From the bedroom of Norma Desmond, she snaps into the phone: "Don't bother with the rewrite man, take it direct!") Other cast members at the packed-to-the-rafters Pantages included Noah Wyle, Steve Guttenberg, Charles Durning and Lauren Ambrose.

Now, I ask you, why is only Hollywood getting these treats? How about Rambo mounting one of his readings for movie fans and star-struck types in New York. How about putting these shows on film?

Hey - since she was so effective as a fabulous movie star on the skids - think about Angelica on Broadway in "Sweet Bird of Youth?"
