At long last, Broadway is finally getting a revival of Funny Girl! Previews begin tomorrow at the August Wilson Theatre, before an April 24 opening night. The classic musical features an iconic score by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, a revised book by Harvey Fierstein, tap choreography by Ayodele Casel, choreography by Ellenore Scott, and direction by Michael Mayer. Beanie Feldstein, Ramin Karimloo, and Jane Lynch lead the company as Fanny Brice, Nick Arnstein, and Mrs. Brice; the principal cast also includes Jared Grimes, Peter Francis James, Ephie Aardema, Debra Cardona, Toni DiBuono, and Martin Moran.

This bittersweet comedy is the story of the indomitable Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. I’ll be there 2nd preview: Monday March 28.  Going with zero expectations.  Erasing all memory of any previous FUNNY GIRL productions I’ve seen and treating it as some brand new show.  This won’t be Streisand’s version of FUNNY GIRL so it’s impossible to compare it.
