Hi all, I teach high school students a class in graphic design. Last year I bought a cricut air so my students can create vinyl stickers as a project. I wanted to be able to create stickers using our own vector art, but I found the cricut app to be just terrible. It'll disassemble our vectors, no matter what I do, into a pile of shapes. I also check them at top vinyl cutters. It charges for fonts that are already free and often it barely works. If I type in an email, it'll cut it out. But it fails to connect to the printer when I upload artwork. I have essentially had a less than positive experience with it.

Is there a good desktop vinyl cutter that is affordable and works with adobe illustrator or something? There has to be something better... would love to hear some recommendations. I am looking at the smallest US Cutter machine... as it's in my price range (under $400). Any advice would be helpful... Thanks all.
