Are there any organized Broadway meetup groups in NYC? Any ideas on ways to share one's interest in theater and meet fellow theater fans while enjoying the theater and other theater-related events?
Show-Score does a lot of meet ups. Don't know if they are any good!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I went to a Show-Score social for Desperate Measures once, and it might've just been because it was an off-Broadway show, but it was just one other party that stayed afterwards for the social, so it was very low-key, though I did enjoy hearing what other people thought. I'd be interested in going to a social for a more popular show just to see what those are like, but in my experience it was nothing too special (you do get a free drink though!)
I'm not part of any but I think if you join the fan group on FB of the musical you like, you'll meet other fans and at times they may do a social or something after watching the show or what not.
An alternative is to just go to Marie's Crisis or another piano bar and you're bound to meet other broadway fans.
