Hi Everyone, Longtime Broadway show fan with a first post. My husband and I had tickets to see Bette in Hello Dolly in July and wouldn't you know it, it was the first show she missed. We exchanged and are heading back to NYC from Chicago for the Sunday, December 17 matinee show. I have heard from one friend in New York that Bette is regularly subbing out of shows and another that she's only doing Wed-Th-Friday shows and that Donna McKecknie is filling in for her on the weekends. I can't find anything to confirm either of these statements. I called the Shubert and they tell me that Bette is scheduled for Sunday, December 17. Even though we're determined to enjoy the show this time around we'd still love to see Bette -- is she missing shows and no one is talking about it?
I’m guessing you mean Donna Murphy? And no, Bette has never missed a performance she was scheduled to do so, besides the one that You happened to be at. She’s have a few weeks off in total, but those were all known far in advance. She will most likely be at that performance, especially since it’ll be her final month of the show.
Thank you for the quick responses. I felt that the person was confusing Donna McKecknie with Donna Murphy but wasn't sure about Bette subbing out otherwise. Happy to have this clarified and am going to remain optimistic. One other question for you experts: We have orchestra section seats - Row O, seat 2 and 4 (next to the right side aisle). These seem pretty good seats to me but should I check in at the box office to see if there's something a little better that day?
Row O is a great view! Far back enough to see everything, but you still see all the facial expressions! Those are amazing seats. Enjoy this fantastic production!

Thank you SouthFLMarc for the info on Donna McKecknie in Pajama Game -- would love to see it with her (a friend just posted that amazing footage of she and Baayork Lee dancing Turkey Lurkey Time in Promises, Promises). Also, really appreciate the assessments of our seats, LesWickedly.
As for you,Chuckydisc...I'm not sure why you felt compelled to post your snarky response to a legitimate question about something that is a common practice in Chicago theatres to those familiar with the same thing on Broadway. Just seems really mean spirited and out of left field.
