Theatremonkey.com Advises on discounts, transportantion and seating.
Rush Tickets You go to the theatre and see if any are Available. They will be advertised outside. If not see anything go to the box office and ask if they do rush, student or senior discounts.
I'm making a few edits to Theatrefan2's post. Primarily to note that in London, there is no "rush" - there are "day seats". My additions are in italics.

TKTs Phone App. Booth in Leicester Square. But, beware - not all shows are discounted. You can frequently get a better deal at the theatre.
Lastminute.com Self explanatory
Lovetheatre.com Announces specials on twitter.
Also: Londontheatrebookings.com which is on-line but also at various kiosks.
TimeOutLondon also has deals.
KIOSKS: There are several kiosks primarily in Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square. But, only use ones that display a STAR symbol.
Maybe we can get BWW to make this a stuck post at the top!
There are also "secret theatre clubs" which are used by Producers to fill seats - a small annual fee and you can see a struggling show for next to nothing additional. ATG also has a club you can join which may provide discounts.
NOTE: There are many venues not technically West End theatres - but in the general vicinity or a short Tube trip away. The National, Old Vic, Young Vic, Menier, Union, Southwark, Kings Cross, Charing Cross, Hampstead, Almeida, Royal Court, Donmar,...to list a few.
