When I was in the 7th grade, Tulsa Oklahoma opened a brand new state of the art performing arts center. They began to host touring productions. My uncle was on the board for the group that hosted the productions. I got to see The Wiz, Annie, and Sugar. I can't remember which one was first, but I thought that Sugar was so funny. Because he was on the board, I also got to meet the cast at parties and receptions. I fell in LOVE with the theatre.

But I would be over 40 when I finally made it to an actual Broadway show. My daughter was in the 7th grade and her dream trip was to go to NYC. We went on fall break and saw 5 shows in 5 days (Wicked, Curtains, Young Frankenstein, Legally Blonde, and Mary Poppins) Wicked was the first!

I have since been lucky to work in NYC and my daughter and I have made many a return trips. I have since seen over 70 shows on Broadway.

Promises, Promises with Orbach (and Lorna Luft) was my first too! Loved every minute of it.

The first broadway show I ever saw was Once in April 2013. Unfortunately Steve and Cristin had just left the show but to finally see a broadway show was a great experience. One of my earliest theatre memories was seeing Joseph and Starlight Express in London. I was probably about 6 yrs old and Jason Donovan was Joseph. Since then I've seen a ton of touring shows that come through Vancouver and Seattle

What a wonderful thread to read through! I was introduced to live theater by a visit from my future brother-in-law, when my then girlfriend (and future wife) decided to make a visit into NYC over the holidays in 1988 and get tickets for a show at the TKTS booth. By the time we made it to the front of the line, the only Broadway show that still had seats available was none other than Oh! Calcutta! What an introduction!! Since then, I have attended at least a couple of hundred Broadway productions (and dozens of off- and off-off Broadway shows in the city).

My first Broadway show was SHE LOVES ME in 1963 with Barbara Cook, Jack Cassidy and Daniel Massey. I came in from Cleveland Ohio for Thanksgiving just to see that show. And it, literally and I do mean literally, changed my life.

1992 The Secret Garden I loved it so much we went to see the final performance. I have pictures, these were the days of throw away cameras and they were less strict. That show was magic
