"It hurts Kelly significantly."

It hurts her Tony chances. But she will continue to work in the theater as much as she wants to--producers aren't going to stop hiring her because of this. She obviously wasn't the problem with that show.

JRB won Best Score after PARADE closed in Febuary before the TONYS.

And it won Best Book also.

I think Kelli deserves the TONY this year and maybe she'll get some extra sympathy votes.

But whatever happens Kelli is still one of our Broadway Treasures and will continue her illustrious career.

And his girlfriend dumped him right about the same time.

I'd love for Kelli to win this year, I think she deserves it, but I hope that if she doesn't, she can win next year for The King and I. It would feel kind of right to have her win for a Lincoln Center production.

"Remember when Kazoo plated the sympathy card and won?"

It's STEVE KAZEE and his win had absolutely nothing to do with his Mother dying. Jesus Christ.

"That is so so sad and unfair! Especially if it hurts Score, because nothing else nominated comes close to being as brilliant. "

Not so. You can't compare the lyrics in this to the freshness and wit of Gentleman's Guide's. And let's not even talk about the dreary music.

"At least if Jessie wins, it's not like that would be undeserved. "

A win for Gentleman's Guide's score would be entirely deserved. It's miles better than this.

"I just got a ticket to the final show. I feel like I'm going to a funeral! "

That's what it felt like sitting through this.

Go away with your negative crap and watch the last show you actually enjoyed watching ....in 1953. Yuck.

I don't see a tour actually happening for this one. I am sure it will have an OK life in regional theatres though.

We all have shows we've championed that came to untimely ends so I sympathize with those of you in mourning. Long live Inner City and Is There Life After High School

Another JRB flop - not surprising (4/4 less than 100 perfs), but I actually found this score to be better than "Parade."

Is Kelli the most nominated Tony actor without an award?

I think it will be popular in regional theater. I also think people would love to see this all over the country, but I guess it's because I loved it so much.

Can you imagine this show in lesser hands? I don't think this will do well in anything other than a regional subscriber based theatre

I'm saddened by this news. Steven Pasquale and Kelli O'Hara (and Elena Shaddow last summer in Williamstown) gave heartfelt, perfect performances, their voices soaring into the stratosphere. Even if the book was imperfect, the themes of recognizing one's soul mate, appreciating your loved ones, and breaking through frustration to find a satisfying life were well explored. I'm just glad that brilliant score will live on with the OCR.

philly03 - Tom Aldredge, John McMartin and Jan Maxwell share the distinction of being the most nominated actors with no awards (all 0 for 5). Come June Kelli O'Hara, along with Danny Burstein and Estelle Parsons, could join their group.

If a tour doesn't happen, what about the West End? Savannah Stevenson has said that she would love to play the role of Francesca if Bridges ever came to London.

I don't see it being in the West End, unless it gets a strong, STRONG footing in regional theaters on both sides of the pond.
And I'm gonna say that the general rule of thumb should be this...
If After Eight hates it, it is probably a great show. If he likes it, than it is probably a terrible show.

Sad to see that this show never found an audience. I never got a chance to see it, but there was a load of great talent involved.

People have mentioned that part of the problem was the way the show was marketed. Do you think this show could do well and find an audience on tour? I would imagine it'll probably have a healthy life in regional theatre.

F*ck you, Tony voters, for not giving this extremely worthy show the love this season.

F*ck you, Bridges marketing team, for some of the worst marketing I've ever seen.

I always thought that this was a show that would do much better at regional theatres. Here's to hoping it comes to TheatreWorks or the ACT.

It should have been at Playwrights Horizons. Far From Heaven had similar reviews, a lot of people disliked it, yet it extended its run and played to sold out crowds. This would have been very successful there.

Yeah, their ads f*cking sucked. I went for the two of them after I saw them together in Far From Heaven. If I had not known them, their ads would have never swayed me to go.
