Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what show to see around June-ish. I know its all subjective so heres a bit of background:
Only show I ever saw was Lion King, my girlfriends seen a few. We're in our latre twenties. Have tickets for Aladdin and Of Mice and Men.

Tickets seem to be cheaper when you buy pre-sale, so I'm looking ahead, maybe a new show coming out soon? Anyone have any suggestions? Bonus for any show with actor/actresses that I would recognize. Thanks!

edit: not looking to spend more than $70 a ticket

In terms of recognizable names, you can see Daniel Radcliffe in The Cripple of Inishmaan or Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig. Both have tickets available for less than $70. Those are both kind of theater-y shows but you didn't give much to go on. What does your girlfriend like? Do you want a musical or a play?

Thanks for the reply-- yeah I know I'm being general, sorry. I've always been interested in seeing Wicked, and she's been dying to see it, but tickets are just out of my range. I have to admit, I'm still a little kid at heart and love the flashy and cool looking stage sets of Lion King. Could go either way, musical or play. Do you think Elephant Man with Brad Cooper will be any good? That just seems like it'd be a bit slow for our taste. (She admitted to falling asleep at a play before)

Perhaps tickets are cheaper pre-sale for out-of-towners, but for us New Yorkers who have the flexibility of "any" time, ongoing discount codes and programs, TKTS, rush seats, lotteries, and access to the box office, etc. purchasing our theater tickets as opportunities present themselves provides better seats at substantially favorable pricing.

Today, shows truly are sold with variable pricing. It can be quite confusing and even more frustrating, but with persistence and a fair amount of money, I get to see most everything - in excellent seats and affordably (well, that's a matter of opinion).

There are a lot of great shows performing now and planned for "June-ish". If you're open to what's available on TKTS or willing to get up early and try for RUSH (how old are you?), your options open up exponentially.

You can find partial view tickets to Wicked for under $70... the further back in the orchestra, the better. You only miss a couple of feet of the stage, but I'd guess that about 95% of the action is center stage, so they're really not bad seats!

Elephant Man with Bradley Cooper is not coming in by June this year. Won't be around til next season.

I would try Matilda. You can get seats in the balcony.

Artc-- Im 25, but I live in South Jersey-- so as much as I want to see every broadway show, and wouldnt mind getting up early for rush.... its just not worth the risk for me. Plus, I'm too much of a worrier for that, need my tickets in advance lol

^ your comment above and your comment about set design is very helpful. I would recommend, Cinderella, Kinky Boots, Matilda (liked, but didn't love), Newsies, Pippin and Rocky. There are others that are equally good, or even better, but these are some of the Broadway shows that have a fair amount of "spectacle". They're fun.

If you're open for something a little - or a lot - different, check out Sleep No More. I think there are some nights that you can get a ticket for $75 or close to it. (Check as I could be wrong.) For more money, but totally worth it is, HERE LIES LOVE. These aren't "Broadway" shows, but they are really cool, a ton of fun and have that "spectacle" element.

Have a wonderful time while you're here.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING will be playing for free in the Park in June.

Yeah, Much Ado will be there but that's a lot like a rush in many ways-you need to get there early. (Or go and sit in the standby line.)

I highly recommend Pippin and Kinky Boots. Given your criteria, I'd put those at the top of the list.
