Pays $19.76 an hour for principal roles. $14.07 an hour for ensemble roles.

BUSCH GARDENS ENTERTAINMENT with the support of BOB CLINE CASTING is happy to announce auditions for the 2014 Season for Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The award-winning Busch Gardens takes great pride and care in the direction the Entertainment department is headed. The new shows, with more to come, have the spirit of mini Broadway musicals and the show stopping energy of shows you may see in Vegas. Some of the Creatives for our new shows include Lisa Shriver, Shelly Isler, Matt West, Karma Camp, Ken Billington and Toni-Leslie James, to name a few.

We are seeking a few triple threats, but mostly strong Singer/Actors and strong Dancer/Actors. Rehearsals for most shows begin late February and open in March. Show end times vary based on the show, but most will end the last week of August or the first week of September. Shows perform up to 5 times a day. All roles are paid.

Please prepare a song selection that shows off your voice and range. Contemporary Broadway or pop is best for us.. Singers should be prepared to come back for a movement call later in the day. Bring sheet music. No CD accompaniment please. Pianist provided. Dancers should bring both characters and flats, and tap shoes if you tap. For the dance call Dancers should still bring a song selection Please bring your audition book, in case you are asked to sing another type of song selection. Bring picture & resume.. Non-Equity performers only.


BREAKDOWN:
“ENTWINED”: A Musical version of the infamous “lost fairy tale” of the same name by the Brothers Grimm. Only recently discovered and translated, the story combines, or rather, entwines, many characters from their previous tales into a now-and-heretofore-unknown heartfelt story of good, evil, personal empowerment…and Gnomes.

[LUNA – PRINCIPAL SINGER] Female. Youthful in appearance (character plays 1. A dreamer, she longs for adventure. A true heroine. Exceptional singing voice and stage presence is required. Must move very well. Vocal Range: Mezzo. Top note E with a very strong and clear belt.

[NARRATOR/PRINCE – PRINCIPAL SINGER] Male. Our Handsome and self assured Narrator. Tall and muscular. Larger than life presence with comedic timing and “Prince- like” undertones. Excellent singing voice. Moves well. Vocal Range: Baritone/ Bari tenor. 5’11” or taller.

[GNICK THE GNOME] Male. Actor. Warm and extremely loveable comical character who leads of a band of Gnomes. Must move well with an ability to do physical comedy. Vocal Range: Character voice. Ensemble singing only.

[COOK/BIG BAD WOLF] Male. The classical villain – dastardly and cunning with a charming voice and large appetite. Mask work needed, so character movement and expression a must. Excellent singing voice. Vocal Range: Bari - tenor

[FATHER/ GIANT] Male. The classical villain – large and in charge with a booming presence and a need to feed. Movement skills a plus. Must be able to work on stilts. 5’8” or taller. Vocal Range: Baritone

[VILLAGER/ PINOCCHIO] Male. Very dynamic dancer with tricks needed. Strong ballet and jazz technique. Vocal Range: Character singing only.

[VILLAGER/ GOLDILOCKS] Female. A Goldie Hawn type character. Attractive and glamorous. Must be able to move well. Comedic personality a plus. Vocal Range: Soprano

[BALLET MISTRESS/ RED RIDING HOOD] Female. A funny Fanny Brice type character. Attractive and glamorous. Must be able to move well. Comedic personality a plus. Vocal Range: Mezzo with strong belt

[BAKER’S WIFE/ RAPUNZEL] Female. A funny Mae West type character. Attractive and glamorous. Must be able to move well. Comedic personality a plus. Vocal Range: Alto with strong belt

[BAR MAID/ THE WITCH] Female. The classical villain – wonderfully witchy with an attractive appetite for evil. Must be able to move well. Comedic personality a plus. Vocal Range: Alto with strong belt


[VILLAGER/ GNOME DANCER] Female. Very dynamic, unique dancers - must have strong ballet and jazz style and technique. Comedic personalities and tricks a plus.

[INNKEEPER – PRINCIPAL SINGER] Male. The proprietor of the Celtic Fyre Inn. Strong, mature personality and charisma with a bit of Irish charm. Must move well. Strong Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Tenor with a strong belt and sustained G5.

[MALE ENSEMBLE SINGER] Male. Strong, comedic personality and charisma with a bit of Irish charm. Must move well. Strong Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Baritone with a strong belt

[AMERICAN TAPPERS – PRINCIPAL DANCER] Male. The American friends of the bride who bring a whole different beat to the party. Seeking very dynamic unique tappers with a strong sense of style, technique, and flair.

“THIS IS OKTOBERFEST”: The world's largest fair comes to Busch Gardens, bringing a bit of Bavaria along with it.

[MALE ENSEMBLE SINGER/DANCERS] Male. Strong, unique singer dancers with big personalities and voices. MUST move very well. Will host throughout the show. Will dance traditional German dances. Males will be taught to plottler. Vocal Range: Baritone and tenors needed.

“MIX IT UP”: The fun begins when teams of chef musicians cook up fabulous fun in Mix it Up! in Italy’s Il Teatro di San Marco. It’s a fast-paced feast for the ears and the eyes that is sure to whet your appetite and leave you wanting more.

[MALE COLOR GUARD] Male. Looking for outstanding color guard performers. Must be able to throw a triple or quad in sabre and have intermediate to advanced skills in tall flags. Intermediate to advanced dance (jazz and ballet) skills a plus.

[FEMALE COLOR GUARD] Female. Looking for outstanding color guard performers. Must be able to throw a triple or quad in sabre and have intermediate to advanced skills in tall flags. Intermediate to advanced dance (jazz and ballet) skills a plus.

INTERACTIVE PERFORMERS:

[COSTUME CHARACTERS] Any gender. Great energy, personality and skill for interacting with guests. Strong pantomime and movement/dance required. Character Height range needed - 4’11” to 6’2”.



SHOW SWINGS:

[MALE VOCAL SWING] MUST be able to play all male singer parts for Entwined and Celtic Fyre. Exceptional singer with great presence. Vocal Range: Tenor with strong belt and sustained G5. MUST MOVE WELL. Must be able to learn up to 8 parts for coverage.

[FEMALE VOCAL SWING] MUST be able to play all female singer parts for Entwined and Celtic Fyre. Exceptional singer with great presence and comedic timing. Vocal Range: Versatile Mezzo with top note: E5 MUST MOVE WELL. Must be able to learn up to 8 parts for coverage.

[MALE SWING DANCER] Seeking dynamic, technically strong dancers with excellent stage presence. Looking for Tap and Jazz specifically. Partnering skills and lift experience a must. Tumbling a plus. 5’8” or taller. Males should bring jazz and tap shoes. Must be able to cover all dancer roles.

[FEMALE SWING DANCER] Looking for attractive, dynamic dancers - should have a strong sense of style, excellent technique and personality. Looking for Ballet and Jazz specifically. Partnering skills and lift experience a must. 5’6” or taller. Females should bring heels, flats, and pointe shoes. Must be able to cover all dancer roles.
