Hi there, Outside of the recent Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd by John Doyle, have you ever seen a particularly unique production of Sweeney Todd performed non-traditionally?
The revival in London was set in the 30s. I even know of a director who did it steampunk style.

I have always considered designing a production visually based on the second generation of penny dreadfuls- the pre-Code horror comics that nearly killed the comic book industry with their popularity and supposed moral threat.
The recent Northern England production set the show in the 1970s as far as I know... Mrs. Lovett's pie shop was a 'greasy spoon café' etc. Looked great.
