Saw her last night with NJ Symphony. GREAT but interesting song choices. A lot of slow songs and similar to her concert set list from 3 years ago. She is adorable, beautiful, and hilarious stories. We also saw Marvin Hamlisch as guest conductor which made it more special. He played piano for her, What I did for love. Defying gravity was the highlight of my night. Enjoy!
My daughter & I took my sister to Idina Menzel's Tilles Center show a few months back. My sister, who loved Menzel in Wicked, could not believe how funny she was. She was in great voice & charmed the whole audience. Have fun tonight.
Well that was pretty darn fantastic!! Her voice is amazing. She could sing almost anything and I would love it. Loved the energy in the room ,wish it had been longer. Also, I can't believe how many people were taking video and pictures.
I was also at the show last night. She was phenomenal, as always. I was wondering though...She sang a song, right after Don't Rain on My Parade. It was something about wind I think (I was in third tier). Does anyone know what it was. I didn't recognize it, but it was a beautiful song!
I wanted to know what that song was too. It was beautiful! I think it was a song called "Asleep On The Wind". I was in the third tier too on the right. They were actually pretty decent seats which surprised me.
I can't believe how many people were at the stage door. She literally got bombarded when she came out. I got an autograph, but out of the 75ish people who waited an hour and a half for her...maybe 10 of us got one. It was a great show though.
I looked up the lyrics, and I"m pretty sure you are right! It must have been "Asleep on the Wind." I hope she releases it at some point. And the seats were pretty good :)
Shocking that a thread about Idina that is pretty decent and not fanboyish has to be intruded by a poster who thinks their "funny"
I'm glad Idina is getting great reviews. After seeing her in concert, I can positively say that her voice on recordings does NOT represent her true talents.
"Life in theater is give and take...but you need to be ready to give more then you take..."
What an amazing show! One of the best concerts I've seen Idina put on. I love her stories and banter; I really think she could put together a little one-woman show for the Broadway stage. But that's just a little dream of mine.
She had some pitch problems but nothing too awful - certainly not in the magnitude of Christina Aguilera's eff ups at Super Bowl XLV. What struck me most about the concert was how good Idina Menzel is at connecting with the audience and how funny and self-deprecating she is. I'd not seen her in concert before so that was a welcome surprise.
My favorite moment of the evening was when she sang FOR GOOD a cappella and how her voice carried quite beautifully throughout Avery Fisher Hall. Sometimes you don't need bells and whistles to deliver a great performance.
