She was right the first time. This is beyond unnecessary.

... I will probably still see it.

There's no need for this, I actually don't believe it's happening until I see a trailer for it, and even then...
Still, if this ever comes to happen (and I hope it doesn't), expect me to be there Friday opening night.

Ugh. Must we endure a sequel? Must I sit through more of Amanda Seyfried?

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Amanda Seyfried, in my opinion, was one of the best things about the movie.

I know it's fun to dump on MM because it is a terrible film, which it is, BUT...

... there is a lot of really good material in the back catalog of B&B that could make this into something half-way decent. I'd venture to say that they picked a lot of the WEAKEST songs for MM, so there is a possibility of this being better than MM, for whatever that's worth - something true of very few sequels, let alone jukebox sequels as most jukebox shows blow their load with the first show (that's kinda the point!).

And isn't the biggest US Abba song "Fernando" which isn't even in MM (yeah Meryl hums a few bars of it, but you know what I mean)? And weren't many of their songs huge hits in Europe, like "Arrival", which were never even released as singles here? I'm just saying, there IS a an untapped market for the majority of the B&B catalogue... and maybe B&B will write a new tune or two for Meryl?

Either way, I'd MUCH rather this than the Knightley/Craig MFL.

I hope they don't do a sequel.

I think sequels sometimes ruin the entire point of the first show. It is better to have that element of mystery/wonder at the end of the show rather than have someone try to tie everything up nicely in a sequel.

**SPOILER ABOUT ENDING** Do we really need a movie that shows us what happens to Sophie after she decides to postpone her wedding? Is she married and does she have kids? **END SPOILER** It doesn't really matter. That is something you are left wondering about at the end of the show. I just find the whole thing pointless. If you know what happens in the second movie, it ruins the fun of the first.

There are some movies that I do not mind the sequels, such as Shrek, Spider-Man and Harry Potter. Those work obviously (even though I realize people thought the third Spider-Man movie was horrible).

But, I guess they will do whatever they want to try to capitalize off the success of the show and the movie.

I wondered why they couldn't do a simple paternity test. I know they wouldn't have had the results in time for the wedding, but still...

Because they wouldn't have time to sing ABBA tunes in a doctor's waiting room.

I have concluded the father is probably not Sam. If he is, though, Sophie definitely took after her mother in the voice department.

*Spoiler*
I too wish to find out who the father is.

If this keeps Meryl from doing "August: Osage County" I will be happy. It's about time a movie studio out there grew some balls and let another actress 55-65 play a lead role for a change.
