This is the same story that was adapted into the movie TO DIE FOR starring Nicole Kidman. I think Krakowski is a wonderful piece of casting, and it would be fantastic if she decided to go through with the show. I'd love to finally see her do a new musical on Broadway instead of a revival. Borle bores me to death, but I think the most important male casting is the role Joaquin Phoenex played in the movie. Although of course this adaptation might make the husband the main male presence.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Also -- MRS. SHARP has actually nothing to do with that Nicole Kidman movie TO DIE FOR, other than that they're inspired by the same true story... They're completely different, and MRS. SHARP uses a lot more of the actual events than the other thing does.
Guettboy, I wasn't trying to say this was adaptation of TO DIE FOR, but that the film is inspired by the same story being musicalized in MRS.SHARP. I think Jane Krakowski is perfect for this role though.

no no i didn't mean that as a retort. just clarifying for anyone reading. and i agree - i think jane krakowski will be a knockout. let's hope this goes into full production so we can all see this!!!
Well, we're not sure what their timeline is, sometimes these shows take a while to take shape and become a full on production. From what some friends on the board have told me, Krakowski has had multiple chances to do Broadway at one point or another while she has been on 30 ROCK but her schedule hasn't allowed it. However, I do remember at one point she mentioned in an interview that she was in talks to do DAMN YANKEES (of course that fell through) so it makes me think that if she is fully committed to a project she might be willing to work the show into her schedule. We'll see. I really would love to see her play this role, and she hasn't done an original musical on Broadway since her fantastic performance in GRAND HOTEL! That is a really long time. We were supposed to get her in XANADU and she bowed out, so let's hope MRS.SHARP is the show that brings her back to the stage.

I'm so excited I'm going. Was trying for a long time, then finally got an invitation. I'll have to report back on this thread and tell you what I thought.
Stephen: "Could you grab me a coffee?"
Me: "Would you like that with all the colors of the wind?"
Saw a workshop of this when it was called Alive at Ten. Great music, but the show had no second act at all. That was a while ago though, so hopefully they've worked the kinks out. The show would definitely be right at home in the Playwrights Horizons season.
Its industry invite only, but all you have to do is have someone in the industry to make the call for you. In my case, I have a producer friend who put me as their guest.

This show is fantastic. No, the husband, Kevin, role is not the main focus. Jake, the high school boy she seduces into killing her husband is the lead male. You can hear some of the music here: https://www.ryanscottoliver.com/mediaaudio.html Verspertine, which workshop did you see? I actually played Kimberly at one of the first readings at NYU when they only had the first act.
Alex Brightman, currently playing Boq is Wicked, played Jake in almost every reading/concert of the show until now. (He sings Jake in the recordings on the RSO website.) Grief, however, decided he wanted to go in a different direction with the character and cast Curt Hansen as Jake in the upcoming industry reading.
Charlie (the character Alex Wyse is playing) is not the lead role, mybigsplash.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
