#111 Musical Scene Stealers in DC Shows

These latest scene stealing moments came from the debut of a professional company, from a children?s performing company and from some outstanding musicals at community theatres.

There are some future stars of the stage here. I hope you enjoy the article. You'll see many of the scene stealers are young actors. I spend 1/3 of my time trying to encourage and promote and write about young actors. And these young scene stealers can really sing and act. Congrats to all of them. Maybe you'll see some of them on the NYC stage.

I find it odd that this article only covers about five productions. And considering that what I've heard about "Rent" at Act II--both from those who performed in and saw it--I'm surprised it got such a glowing recommendation.

I was very disappointed, and frankly, stunned by the some of the casting of Act Two's production, but Josh and Ellie and Emmi's scene stealing songs were fabulous. I'm not a critic. I was there to find some scene stealing performances, not to review the show. I'm sure you have seen many shows that were not so great, but had some great scene stealing moments or performances in it. Also, this is one of the few times since I have been writing these Scene Stealers articles that there were more than one performance chosen from the same show. It just happened that way. If you would have seen these productions and performances, you may have agreed with me. And you may have not. And, if you never saw these RENT performances, and are basing it on "what you heard"- you really shouldn't judge these performances or criticize them. Thanks for commenting.
