In pairs, like usual, and then all the stand bys came on together.
"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too."

Can we please have a Sweeney thread without "Mano fangirl" discussion?
I've been thinking about what to say, but I still can't think of anything profound. I'll let those who had the pleasure of attending the final show do the talking for now.
She was VERY upset while giving her little speech. Like gasping for air, upset.

I just have to say the flower-throwing was hysterical. I missed Mano getting hit in the head, but I did see quite a few people in the front row get hit in the head with roses. I'm sorry, it was an emotional moment, but it was really, really funny. I don't know where some people were throwing the flowers from. A lot of them missed too, and flowers were all over the first 3 rows. Then I imagined what would happen if someone hit Patti in the head. Ooh, would there be hell to pay (totally kidding).
Umm, also another note I'd like to make about the ending that was great is...thank goodness, the standbys were brought on stage to bow with the cast. I don't think this was initially supposed to happen, as I was prepared to lose my voice making it happen myself, but luckily, I didn't have to. Apparently, Patti was the one who made sure that theyw ould all get to come up and bow on the stage. Yaay for Patti. Really awesome of her.
Michael was speaking and saying that in case we don't know...explaining they were standbys and such, and make the show possible, and how great especially Merwin was and HAD Michael missed a show, Merwin would have been great. Hehe. (And then I got a bunch of souvenirs to take home, incluidng a bunch of understudy cards that say Merwin is going on as Sweeney. Nice rarity. Hehehe).
Oh, and Patti picked up some of the flowers (most of them were thrown for her), and gave one/some to every cast member. Very sweet.

According to Michael "The most talented, least utilized man on broadway."

I think Michael said something like if you don't recognize those of us better dressed on the stage or something

He's *really* tall. Had he gone on, I don't think he would have fit in the coffin. Like in Wicked after Kristin left and they had to fix the bubble so JLT could fit. (Oooo, Wicked reference in a Sweeney thread! *waits to be stoned*)

knowing how
This is the first time I've ever been upset about a show's closing.

wickedrentq - I'm completely jealous that you got Merwin slips. I got Pirelli ones.
By the way, beyond the show itself, the highlight of my night was having that 2 second conversation with Sondheim. He politely declined an autograph (didn't want to get swamped). I congratulated and thanked him, and he patted me on the back. That's better than an autograph.

He was sooo funny. And Michael actually came over.
FYI Meghan has a MySpace, for anyone who's interested.

Thanks for letting me steal some Elisa slips, Aspiring
It's really funny that you said that, Skittles. A certain someone was trying to defend the fact to me that he's not as tall as he seems, b/c the rest of the cast is very short. (True, though he's still tall, but that's another story). But, it really is true when I thought about it.
Anyway, this gave birth to...well...today we all experienced a wonderful final performance of Shrimpy Todd

Nah, there's always a bar! I know Mano likes Scruffy's.
Does anyone here post on imdb? Michael Cerveris's imdb message board seems to be lacking in traffic so can someone post some links to their wonderful pics there? There are no mods and I know I'd appreciate it. :)
