BroadwayNYC: are we talking about the same Gypsy?? They certainly do not fill to capacity almost every night (these are the holidays & every show gets a bump, but these weeks are the exception & not the rule). Ms. P. continues to struggle w/ her bronchitis, some nights gasping for air between lines. She's a pro, though, & does whatever she needs to do to pull off the show. Personally I just never cared for the show, this production's medicority notwithstanding.

I guess we are not talking about the same Gypsy...the first time I saw it was 2 weeks after the Tonys, the second time was two weeks after that and the third time was the day after Thanksgiving. All three times her voices was great, and at the day after Thanksgiving performance I never heard her so amazing. All three times were filled to capacity (sold out). There is at least one sold-out show every week. I have read that she did have some health problems and it did affect some performances, but overall she has managed to pull off the show. But I am one of many who loves the show, and though BP has had a couple bad performances, you can't diss a show like this or a performer like her. The role is very demanding, I know. But on her good days (which have been MANY) she stomps on all bad reviews and remarks and validates herself as a performer once again.

When I saw "Gypsy," Bernadette's performance was better than I could have even dreamed. I was speechless afterwards.

Hated this production of it. Thought Bernadette Peters was horrendous and she was walking through it. And also; there were plenty of empty seats in the orchestra and the balcony was at maybe 30 %. And according to Variety its capacity has been lingering somewhere between 70 to low 80 % (give and take a little) for a while. The show is also playing to a heavily discounted house. Doesn't mean it isn't making money.
