Idina Menzel as Elphaba in WICKED~It's one of the most emotionally and vocally draining roles on Broadway and it's completely different from Idina's past roles and she plays it beautifully.
Bernadette Peters as Mama Rose in GYPSY~This role is very hard and draining in general, and Bernadette gives it her all.
Kerry Butler as Audrey in LITTLE SHOP~It's hard to stamp out everyone's permanent impression of Ellen Greene, and while I did not particularly enjoy Kerry as Audrey, she was trying really hard to make the role her own and did a decent job.
I also think Aida in AIDA is emotionally and vocally demanding all-around.
Tevye, Valjean, Mamma Rose and Emcee are tricky ones.
Audrey is also a hard one that I haven't seen done overly well. It's hard because playing the character that is a dites and real girly as well have depth and feeling in the character too.
