I have not heard anything about this years Tony's. when does it even air on tv?

also, I'd like to point out the lack of hype in the new musicals and revivals. beside Jekyll & Hyde, I have not heard one peep about the new musicals/revivals, and I have not seen one vlog. have I just been too busy or are people not caring this year?

year's

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I think people that can't even form complete sentences are trying to correct my grammar...

The Tonys aren't for three and a half months. Promoting them now is a bit premature, to say the least. Plus, I don't know where you've been but I'd say the level of advertisement on the aggregate I've seen is on par with past seasons. As always, some shows (like Matilda) are definitely better than others (like Motown) at advertising.

^^^THIS.

If "hype" and promos started now for an awards show that takes place in June that would be a sure turn off and incentive for people to tune out of a show that already has consistently poor ratings. It runs the risk of "Smashing": months of teasers and promos before the first season premiere aired and it turned out to be complete, incoherent trash.

Late May for promos and advertising for the Tonys is just fine.

With regard to new shows and revivals, I`m sure those shows have ad campaigns in the works that will roll out when the time is right for them. In such a heavy season timing is a major factor. You`ll see it when they want you to see it.

It's a sign of the times when people lament under overexposure.

And while I agree with all the posts here, It is odd that even the Tony Award site doesn't yet list a date. It is usually the 2nd Sunday in June, which would likely make it June 9th. (I only remember this because it falls on my birthday on the years my birthday is a Sunday!)

What new shows are READY to throw up a vlog? Doesn't that usually happen near the begining of previews? Yes, some shows are starting previews very soon, but others aren't starting until the end of the month.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
