Heathers First Preview  Mar 17 2014, 03:24:50 PM
I believe that it was actually produced by the same people who produced Rock of Ages so that's a fair assessment. I'm so excited to see this!
If/Then Previews  Mar 13 2014, 03:46:35 AM
Technically, from the partial view seat I had, the only thing that I missed was some stuff on stage right, stuff on the bridge, and a lot of lighting stuff since I couldn't see most of the mirror and the backdrop. The whole time I felt like I was only seeing a very small sliver of the stage. I moved to a seat in the center orchestra around row M for the the second act and the show's stage pictures, choreography, direction, etc. was a lot clearer.

"Sounds like the criticisms leveled at

***Spoilers

I thought the show was more interesting than engaging. The concept was very interesting, but it seemed to me that the creative team cared more about the themes and the structure than about the characters and the narrative. It never felt like the stakes were high enough most of the time. And in the few moments where the show really started getting exhilarating, the storyline switched. I cared a lot more about Liz's story than I did about Beth's, which is definitely a probl

Who's playing the Begger Woman NY Phil's Sweeney Todd with Emma Thompson?  Mar 4 2014, 02:23:11 PM
Kenneth Branagh is directing that Cinderella movie? Vicki Clark is in Cinderella?

That's all I got.

Bridges of Madison County Previews  Jan 18 2014, 12:36:12 AM
Do you think the show would fall flat for someone who hasn't read or seen the source material? So I mean, do you think it's strong enough to stand on it's own when it isn't be compared?
Frozen Headed to Broadway!  Jan 13 2014, 04:41:04 PM
Yes! Have Idina play a 21 year! That works perfectly!

Maybe they'll be able to nail down the character development in a stage version (and get rid of the Snowman monster and rock trolls if we're lucky).

Audra McDonald nominated for Black Reel Award for SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE  Jan 8 2014, 09:35:33 PM
"This is a whole different issue, which has nothing to do with the past, but just with being a reasonable and fair human being."

Yeah okay I'm done. Have fun in whatever world you live in.

I did "READ". I've been reading this entire thread and I was dead set on not responding to you because I find your entire argument pretty nonsensical. Why are awards like these in place and why do people fight for representation? Really? In this case, it's because African-Americans have been oppressed and dehumanized since the very founding of this country and unfortunately residual discrimination still exist. Yes, even in the entertainment industry.

It's not a double standard to have

"a black mother superior in pre world war 2 was unthinkable"

Just stop.

You're allowed to have your opinion of course, and I will agree with you on acting (but what novice wouldn't look completely over their head next to the likes of Audra McDonald and Laura Benanti).

But how was the score "beyond her capacities as a singer"? Sure she belted it all, but to me that's a stylistic quibble. She didn't even use a twangy pop-belt, she used a pretty open sound. She could certainly sing it.

I may be misinterpreting your comment and if so forgive me.

I actually find Carrie Underwood pretty endearing so far. I mean, she clearly cares so so much about it and really eases up during the singing.

Audra is just so unbelievably good. Of course her voice, I mean she squeezed so much subtext out of "My Favorite Things". I cannot wait for "Climb Ev'ry Mountain".
Breaking News: Marin Mazzie to Play 'Helen Sinclair' in BULLETS OVER BROADWAY; Opens 4/10 at St. James Theatre  Dec 5 2013, 03:28:15 PM
Maybe she will be absolutely brilliant and surprising (not to me of course-- I think she'll be brilliant already) because actors don't always play to type and she is certainly capable and overwhelmingly committed.

Parade Performances  Nov 28 2013, 11:40:32 AM
Yeah, I'm guessing (or at least I'm hoping) that her tweet was more in jest and less in outrage. Especially considering she is tweeting a broadway related site (or whatever one classifies The Craptacular as).
Final Leads Announced for LES MISERABLES Broadway Revival - Find Out Who's Enjolras and The Thenardiers  Nov 20 2013, 02:09:00 PM
Let the many comments to the effect of "A black Enjolras??? But...." commence.

But yes congrats to all! I think Keala Settle will be wonderful.

NATASHA, PIERRE.... Sheet Music?  Nov 11 2013, 07:47:51 PM
They just released selections for "Natasha, Pierre..." on the composer's website for five dollars each. You can also email Dave Malloy if the song isn't there and he'll get it to you (according to his Facebook comment).
The Glass Menagerie  Oct 31 2013, 01:14:14 AM
The Glass Menagerie is also one of my favorite plays and I thought this was the best production I've seen of it. It broke my heart and I thought it was incredibly well done creatively. There were so many moments that literally took my breathe away.

There was very little wrong with it in my eyes, but then again theatre is subjective! I love some things that a lot of people consider to be absolute dreck and vice versa but that's art for you.

THE MODEL APARTMENT at Primary Stages  Oct 25 2013, 03:17:10 AM
Was the rush only "if available"? Any change of an extension?
Am I the only one excited about Merrily?????  Oct 24 2013, 12:07:17 AM
I thought Jenna Russell was the best out of the three (very good) leads. Her performance was devastating. The whole cast was pretty wonderful to me. The chemistry between the leads really held the piece together I think. I had accepted that the accents were going to be terrible so they didn't bother me too much.

As for the show, I'm very familiar with it, but I've never seen it done. It is still one of my favorite Sondheim shows but I think there are problems inherent in the structur

$29 rush  Oct 23 2013, 03:02:19 PM
When I rushed it, I was talking to the box office guy and he said that the producers were wary of even having a rush at all because there is such a price discrepancy between the rush and the normal price. So them raising it to $49 makes sense, especially in such a small space. Even though it is a little much, I think it's still a good deal because as far as I know there isn't a specific "rush seating" so you are getting the exact same experience as someone who paid $125.
