Jelani Remy as Simba?  Apr 5 2017, 09:31:10 AM

I'm a friend of his and he's incredible. Toured with him for a bit and have seen him really grow and succeed here in New York. You'll enjoy him.

NEWSIES Tour Fall 2014  Nov 18 2013, 10:01:45 PM
In the Newsies behind the scenes book, there's an article discussing how the Broadway set was half a million over budget before opening. It goes on to read that an extra 300 grand was spent to make the deck and everything on top tourable. Pretty interesting.

Matilda Rush?  Mar 13 2013, 02:36:28 AM
BUMP

How is the line looking? My roommate is leaving at 6AM to line up for tomorrow's performance. I thought this was a little much, but not sure. Any ideas?

SMASH  Feb 28 2012, 03:00:44 AM
What kind of points were being traded between Nick Jonas and Angelica Houston for the painting?

RENT - PLOT HOLE?  Feb 22 2012, 05:09:50 PM
Thanks guys. I'll make sure to answer your questions about broadway credits, **** I've heard in the theatre, or what my opinion is for best play with the same amount of sarcasm and helpfulness that you've given me

Anyone with real thoughts?

RENT - PLOT HOLE?  Feb 22 2012, 04:17:39 PM
I saw the off-Broadway production of RENT a few days ago, and although I was really energized by certain aspects of the production, some of the choices made by the creative team really highlighted some of the flaws within the book/score, etc.

One major plot hole (I think) that I caught for the first time during this performance was Mark's response to helping Maureen with her equipment.

Mark and Rodger are in their apartment, Mark asks if Rodger would like to "catch Maureen

New Poll: What Animated Disney Classic Do You Want to See on Broadway Next?  Oct 31 2011, 10:53:05 AM
Dumbo is on the development board for Disney, I've seen it myself.

And as I recall, it was pretty close to the top.

New Rent Reorchestrated?  Jul 12 2011, 10:52:14 AM
The changes that they have done are supposed to bring the show to a more "complete" level than the original production seemed to do. Changes have been made to costuming, makeup, and other elements to create a more realistic version. For example, Mimi costuming and make-up should realistically reflect a coked-out 19 year old, whereas old productions never really presented the characters in their full truth.

The music has been changed to reflect a more "rock" score as by intention, and al

Larson's unhappy with RENT  Jul 12 2011, 10:44:51 AM
From what I understand, that's exactly what's going on. They're saying "stage the original or don't stage anything at all". I understand the sentiment of paying respect to Jonathan by keeping the show 'forever frozen', but stifling all creativity to do so is not worth it.

We had the original production for 12 (not so long ago) years. Give us something new.

Larson's unhappy with RENT  Jul 12 2011, 10:24:42 AM
I have heared through some very reliable sources that the family of Jonathan Larson is not pleased with the changes made in this new production of RENT. Apparently, some staging, specific dance moves, and the reorchestrations are the cause of their disdain.

Has anyone else heard anything on this?

re: THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, the musical  Jul 5 2011, 11:52:13 AM
Any news of this creeping up anywhere?
War horse $30 ticket?  Jul 5 2011, 10:49:49 AM
Question about Linctix: I may have a problem but I am hoping it is something that really isnt an issue.

I signed up for Linctix, and lied about my age. I am a mere 6 months away from being 21. I have not purchased a ticket. How strict are they about checking age, or do they even? I dont look like I would be under 21, I simply do not want to waste money on a ticket and be refused.

Theatre Interiors/Architecture  Jun 24 2011, 04:55:52 PM
I work in the New Amsterdam which is one of the best parts of the job - getting to be in that space every day. The stories of the theatre and how it changed both on the interior and exterior are fascinating. My favorite story is how the carpeting was replicated.

It's a beautiful house - almost too gorgeous for Mary Poppins.

re: AVENUE Q Final Performance 'Review'  Sep 14 2009, 12:21:37 AM
It was an amazing exprience, and I'm glad my first closing show was with Avenue Q. I cried, laughed, and was so happy when the announcement was made that the show would be moving to NWS.

I was fairly surprised at some of the changes they had made, I assume just because it was the final performance. I saw it in March, and there were several things thathad changed just since then.

I loved "For Now" when everyone came out. And the speech was nice, concise, and very appropriate.
re: Ripley, Fierstein, Batt, DeGarmo, Ashley And Many More Set For '23RD ANNUAL BROADWAY FLEA MARKET & GRAND AUCTION' 9/27  Sep 8 2009, 10:53:05 AM
I have never been to the flea market, and I was wondering if it is just for the 27th? Or is it a weekend type thing?
re: Traffic Free Time Square?  Sep 8 2009, 10:51:22 AM
As someone who was a tourist for a very long time, but can now call himself a permanent resident of the city, I want to voice my opinion, for what it's worth. As a tourist, I always loved Times Square before the changes, because thats the vision I always had of New York. I felt that Times Square's charm came from the fact that I was trying to avoid getting hit by a car, or bus, or bike. I envisioned the traffic jams and the pedistrians all over the sidewalk...that's what it was 'supposed' to be
re: Next to Normal rush lately  Aug 16 2009, 01:32:32 AM
Im movin to NYC from Georgia in around a week and a half, and one of the first things I plan to do is rush this show.

I have never rushed a show before, and although it may not be a huge deal, I'm a little nervous.

Ive caught bits and pieces from other threads, so this is, from what I've read, how it happens:

-I show up, on my selected show date, at an early AM hour.
-I wait in line, outside the theatre door (?) for the box office to open.
-I either get one or

re: Funny shows you don't find funny?  Aug 3 2009, 03:57:40 AM
The 39 Steps. I thought it was 'cute' and a very well acted show, but I'm just not into that kind of humor.

Sure, I laughed at a few things. But mostly, I pretended.

re: 'Perfect for US': The NEXT TO NORMAL love thread!  Aug 3 2009, 02:19:55 AM
Does anyone know where I can download some of the songs from when the show was Feeling Electric? I'd really like to hear some of them, and put them on my iPod.
re: West End theatres now employing bouncers  Aug 2 2009, 09:59:59 PM
Oh, I'm sure we have. I guess it just hasnt reached the point that it has over there.

Although it wasn't really an 'incident', when I saw Ave. Q for my first time there in New York, everytime the man next to me would laugh, the side of my face got a little more preserved due to the amount of alcohol on his breath. I had to hold mine just so I wouldnt become intoxicated.
