My favorite part of the shows is the Curtain Call!  Aug 22 2010, 05:47:57 PM
It's an odd phenomenon. With me, usually, the worse the show is, the better the curtain call is. It just works out well like that.

....as well as new artwork, I believe.

I'm in love!

All female 1776  Jul 22 2010, 07:51:44 PM
"One question, but I think I already know the answer: How is the all-male "Forum" at Williamstown Theatre Fest considered a brilliant idea, and an all-female "1776" condemned as "idiotic"?"

Well, if I do recall, the director of the all-male "Forum" (whose name I'm blanking on right now) stated that the concept is more of an homage to Greek theatre, when all plays were performed with just men. Therefore, that concept makes sense. A female 1776, on the other hand, does not IMHO

bloody, bloody final show thoughts...  Jul 2 2010, 06:46:05 PM
fm711, the role of Andrew Jackson requires someone who can actually act. Just being a "rocker with an edge" doesn't cut it.

Besides, Marc Anthony doesn't fit the role at all, Bon Jovi is too old, and Adam Lambert, ew.

Possibly if they nab a Tony or two. But even so, probably not, sadly.

-Passing Strange
-The Story of My Life

Both amazingly beautiful shows, which I wish had lasted longer.

Montego Glover Will Win The Tony  May 15 2010, 11:12:55 PM
Having seen all of the nominees in this category, I rank it as Kate Baldwin, Montego Glover, Christiane Noll, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Sherie Rene Scott, from from "least favorite" to "most favorite" performance. I agree with all the above comments, Montego has a great voice, but her acting is so-so.
Sherie is giving an amazingly honest, and personal performance in an extremely smart and well-written show, and I believe she'll leave the Tonys with at least one award in hand.

Huzzah! Best news of the evening!
re: Jonathan Larson had AIDS? No. Right?  Jul 1 2009, 08:24:39 PM
"Has your friend explained why she is "convinced"?"

She says it's in her RENT book that it says he had HIV. But I agree with everyone here. I'm just trying to prove her wrong.

Jonathan Larson had AIDS? No. Right?  Jul 1 2009, 08:12:55 PM
I'm arguing with a friend about the cause of Jonathan Larson's death, which was of an aortic aneurysm. Thank goodness, she's figured that out, but she is still convinced that he had AIDS, or was at least HIV positive.

I'm not that clear on the matter, and I couldn't find anything about it on the internet. Could someone help me out here?

Thanks in advance.

re: Road Show Cast Album  Jul 1 2009, 12:52:54 AM
I must say that "The Best Thing that Ever Has Happened," especially on this recording, is one of the best love songs Sondheim has ever written. I was crying both times I heard it when I saw Road Show.
re: Road Show Cast Album  Jul 1 2009, 12:17:23 AM
Most of the music from Road Show reminds me of Assassins, but I still love it, and much prefer it to Bounce.

He doesn't sound as "English" as he does on other recordings, in my opinion.

Either way, I am in love with this recording!

re: Norman Conquests Rush on Marathon Days.  Jun 22 2009, 07:09:01 PM
Wow, really? Because I was sort of relying on student rush to get tickets this Sunday. That would be really annoying if you're right jagfkb.
Norman Conquests Rush on Marathon Days.  Jun 22 2009, 06:47:01 PM
How does the Student Rush for Norman Conquests work on Marathon days? Can you get tickets for all three plays, or is it only two tickets per person? How is the rush these days?
