re: Most important/life changing theater experiences you've had?  Jul 7 2008, 03:58:53 AM
My theater experience started later in my life than I would have liked it to. I grew up near San Antonio, Texas and so my first show was of a touring production of Chicago in 1999 when I was 19. I remember how much I feel in love with musical theater after that show. I also remember the guys sitting next to me checking out the hot male dancers with their playbills rolled up like a monocular.

My first Broadway show in NYC came in May of 2005 when I saw Wicked. I thought that it was a

re: Things you never realised and now feel dumb about.  Jul 5 2008, 04:14:35 AM
It was more of an Aha moment for me, but all during In The Heights, I did not realize that the reason Nina's dad did not accept her relationship with Benny was because of his race. I just thought that he just was not up to his standards.
re: BWW's Theatre Database  Jul 5 2008, 04:05:07 AM
That has happened to me once when I tried opening the main page of broadwayworld.com.
re: What Show Will Announce Its Closing?  Jun 17 2008, 01:14:07 AM
I think Xanadu will be around for awhile. it appeals to many people and plus it has been running longer than any of the shows that were nominated.
The shows that could possibly have a short life remaining on Broadway are:
Passing Strange
Cry Baby

re: Best Dressed at the Tonys?  Jun 16 2008, 09:53:36 AM
I thought that Kristin Chenoweth and Laura Linney both looked stunning in their gowns.
re: First show you saw alone..  Jun 12 2008, 09:20:10 PM
Beauty and the Beast was the first musical I saw on Broadway by myself. A very unique experience.
re: What Musical Theatre Song Is Your Top Played on iTunes?  Jun 10 2008, 12:49:57 AM
Bless the Lord - Godspell with Shoshana Bean.

re: What Non-Musical Songwriter Should Write A Musical?  Jun 9 2008, 05:19:45 AM
Dianne Warren writes very beautiful music.
re: What Musicals are Left to Be Made into Movies?  Jun 9 2008, 05:18:08 AM
I am not sure if it has been done and I really am not sure who I would cast in it, but I was thinking about 110 in the Shade. If done with the right cast and a big Hollywood budget it could be something interesting to see.
re: How the heck did Xanadu get nominated?  Jun 8 2008, 04:09:18 AM
What I love about Xanadus success is that it started directly on Broadway and has been able to last for over a year and still get nominated. Cry Baby started in La Jolla, while both Passing Strange and In the Heights had runs Off-Broadway.
Xanadu is a fun show.
Look at how many times BWW posters have seen Xanadu compared to any other show on Broadway. I myself have seen the show 6 times. It is a must see for me whenever I come into the city, and I live in Texas. The material is fun

What's really sad here is that the person who started this post has yet to respond to anyone.
Who cares why certain shows got nominated and other shows did not. We should applaud the shows that did get nominated. I am sure that everyone has had their opinions about shows that were nominated in the past that should not have been.
IMO, I have seen all 4 shows that have been nominated for Best Musical this year. And like everyone else the show that I enjoyed the most was Xanadu. Cry

re: Student rush with no student ID?  May 31 2008, 01:41:34 AM
Whats very sad is that most theaters are getting strict with student ID's and you having to be under the age of 25. The sad part is that it really sucks for those of us who are over the age of 25(barely) and are turned away because you are too old.

That happened to me when I tried to student rush November. The guy asked me for my student ID and my drivers license and then turned me away because I am 27 and a student that started school late.
Good luck with it.

re: New York Trip  Apr 4 2008, 09:19:59 PM
I would say to go to Juniors after Xanadu, you will beat the crowds of the other shows. I would also say try Cowgirl they have good food and relatively inexpensive. Cowgirl is located on Hudson and West 10th.

My guilty pleasures are:
Legally Blonde
Tarzan
Wedding Singer

re: is it worth seeing Xanadu  Mar 27 2008, 06:23:04 PM
I agree, Xanadu is amazingly fun. I had never seen the movie and still had a blast. There were some people in the theater who said that its better once you see the movie and then the show. THey said that there were some hidden messages, but when I saw the movie and then the show again I did not see any "hidden messages" or jokes.
re: What shows do you like but feel they are too long?  Mar 27 2008, 06:17:54 PM
For me South Pacific was long in certain parts, as well as Sunday in the Park with George.
With Sunday, I was there last wednesday (3/19) in the 2nd to last row when a woman fainted because of how hot it was and this was during the first act when I was thinking that a break would be nice right about now. They called an ambulance and had to wheel her out. I believe that it distracted everyone in the last 4 rows of the orchestra.

'Do the 'Du!' with The 'Du Crew  Mar 24 2008, 11:19:25 PM
I recently saw the show for the 5th time on Friday, March 21st, and had the best time as usual. I still adore this show. It's crazy once you know the show, you begin to look at the facial features of the other characters on stage to see what they will be doing. The two funniest hands down are Jackie Hoffman and Mary Testa. They crack me up. I hope to see this show when I get up to NYC again from Texas.
re: The 'Du Crew... a new place where nobody dared to go...  Aug 21 2007, 11:51:34 PM
I absolutely love this show. I have seen it only 3 times, my partner has seen it 6. He lives in NYC and I live in Houston, so of course every chance I get to go to NYC, Xanadu is the main show that I want to see. I never thought that I would be so obsessed with a show, but this one is like crack. I need my fix.
Thanks to WonderRobbie and Jaystarr for keeping everyone posted on the happenings with this show.

And I think that a perfect shirt would be:
"I try to dress simply

re: Indecision - Please help  Aug 21 2007, 11:24:53 PM

It depends on what your mood is. If you want to laugh then see Xanadu. If you want something to make you think about what is going on then see SA. I agree with what movieguy said about Rent.

I would say to see Xanadu. It's fun, and its just a good theater experience.

re: Clumsy's Birthday Trip: Legally Blonde [2pm] and Xanadu [8pm]: 8-18-07  Aug 19 2007, 03:33:07 AM
Happy Birthday Clumsy. I feel the same way about Xanadu, it's like an addiction that is totally hard to break. And who wants too, the show is unbelievable. I miss, Kenita, but Shannon, like you said is a very nice addition. I do hope that they have an OBCR of this show, it irritates me how long it is taking. I mean Grease is already recording.
When I was in NYC, Andy Karl went on in place of Micheal Rupert and really did a great job. I really liked his rendition of "Blood in the Water.
