Jill Haworth has passed away  Jan 7 2011, 09:47:50 AM
She was at the BC/EFA Flea Market a few years ago---what a lovely lady! A sad way to start the new year...
'Cynthia Nixon Speaks on Behalf of 'Fight Back NY' Pretty Creepy  Mar 14 2010, 10:28:36 AM
I didn't find it that creepy. The smile/messsage made perfect sense---it's like the mom who, the quieter she got, the more angry she was.
The Addams Family 1st Preview...  Mar 11 2010, 07:15:58 PM
This thread is reminding me of the Spamalot thread---not a lot of middle ground. I'm looking forward to seeing it because of the cast, I'm sure I will enjoy it!

Loved that blog!!!

Gustave is listed on the cd packaging (not in the liner notes) as Charlie Manton. Happy?
Pittsburgh-Broadway Series 2010-2011  Mar 8 2010, 11:13:29 AM
The Benedum holds (roughly) 2800, while Heinz Hall holds (roughly) 2600. Evidently (according to rumour) The Pgh Cultural Trust wants to own Heinz Hall, and Heinz Hall is against that---so Heinz gets the worst of the Bwy Series. Heinz is specifically geared towards the Symphony and the Pops, but can handle a large show. Both theaters are too large for a number of the shows that play there---Doubt for example (at the Benedum) and Rent (the sound gets muddy in both theaters in the balcony).

Nothing at Heinz Hall? Boy, the feud must have taken a turn for the worse!

The dvd helped me keep an open mind. I saw Phantom over 50 times (only paid twice, though, I worked the other times as a volunteer in a local theater), and I absolutely adored the show. After reading some of the posting on the West End boards, I was really nervous about LND. I know the object of the interviews is to put a positive spin on things, as the actors and Sir Andrew want it to do well, but watching the interviews really made me feel better about the whole thing, and after some of the ex

The bonus dvd was worth every penny to me! I've read enough on the boards to be a little apprehensive about the show, but watching the dvd made me lose that apprehension. I will go to this show with a more open mind---it was interesting seeing the interviews with Ramin, Sierra, and Sir Andrew (as well as others). It was recorded before the show opened for previews, but talks enough about the characters, mood, etc.

I like my mother too!

I got the deluxe edition yesterday, and ended up watching the dvd last night (makin gof, recording the album, set design, etc). After watching it, I can honestly say that I can't wait until it opens! My mom is even interested, and that was a surprise...she likes Phantom, but prefers Les Miserables.
Did Love Die?  Feb 28 2010, 07:10:11 PM
After reading the link, I have to see this---I wonder how ALW reconciled this with the ending of the movie version of POTO?
re: How to Succeed Reading w/DHP, Daniel Radcliff and Michael Urie  Dec 23 2009, 07:34:41 PM
"The only thing Radcliffe is a veteran of is the Potter franchise."

He acquitted himself quite well in Equus.

re: Shalhoub, LaPaglia, Thompson to star in Tucci-helmed TENOR  Dec 17 2009, 09:58:20 PM
"You mean 3-time Emmy Award winner Tony Shalhoub isn't a name?" That's what I thought! I'm going to see it because of him---loved (and misses) MOnk, but he is a fine actor. And the final episode of Monk got something like 9.4 million viewers---which I'm sure Leno would take in a heartbeat!
re: Patinkin and Lupone  Dec 14 2009, 08:48:10 PM
I went to Cleveland in May to see them, and I enjoyed it---just take it for what it is, and don't project your own wants into it and you'll be fine!
re: LES MISERABLES - the movie musical - 2012  Dec 14 2009, 08:06:04 PM
How about Faith Prince as Mme. Thenardier? I can see her in the role...

I can't see Hugh Jackman as Javert at all, I like most of the suggetsions for Javert, my favorite being Alan Rickman...

re: What's gonna do worse:  Dec 14 2009, 07:35:50 PM
$$$ wise, I think Spidey will do worse. From all that I've heard, it will have beaucoup bucks to recoup. I'd like to see both, just for sh*ts and giggles
re: Goodbye Monk.  Dec 2 2009, 09:19:23 PM
One of the reasons they are stopping the series is the high costs associated with a successful show---salaries, etc. And since this is a cable show, not a network show, money is an issue---but at least they are going out on top! And they are talking about a one-iff movie (or more) in the future, so I don't think Monk is going to die...at least, not yet!
