farewell Kimmy!  Apr 28 2024, 01:07:36 PM

Couldn’t attend the final show, sadly, but went last week for the 5th time. My 4th time, Victoria was out so I just needed to see her one final time. She never missed a beat and it was her best one yet. Thanks to Victoria, Justin, Bonnie and the entire cast and musicians for such a tight and entertaining adventure.  I know they are touring in September and wish the participants the best.

Chita Rivera has died  Jan 31 2024, 04:32:35 PM

Chita was one of the reasons I became a lifelong theater fan. She, Gwen Verdon and Jerry Orbach in the original cast of Chicago was my first Broadway show when I was a teenager. I’ll never forget going out and buying the OBC album, yes I said album, and playing it over and over. I tried to see everything she appeared in over the years. What a talent! Thank you Chita and rest in peace,

I posted a very negative review of Kimberly Akimbo on YouTube and got a threat to delete it.  Dec 25 2023, 02:21:55 PM

That’s unfair but I’m not sure why you felt the need to review a show that has already won the Tony for best musical? Not to mention that it probably will close in the next month or two. No one likes every show and if you didn’t care for it doesn’t mean that someone else doesn’t like it.

Some Like it Hot to Close on December 30  Sep 29 2023, 12:34:54 PM

I’ve seen this show twice with balcony seats from TDF and each time I thought the performances were solid, the music great, the dancing incredible all in a big house. I then saw Kimberly Akimbo, no dancing, decent songs, great performances all in a small house. I immediately felt connected something I didn’t feel at SLIH. Maybe that’s what’s missing?

Public Theater Lays Off 19% of Staff  Jul 17 2023, 08:26:16 AM

I work in the nonprofit sector where donors continually comment in the salaries of executive officers. It’s up to the board of directors to establish the pay range and if they are financially qualified, will base the salary using revenue and expenses in mind. A successful executive who runs an organization is not going to work for peanuts as they can make a higher salary elsewhere. You get what you pay for. With a huge staff, that’s the place where cuts will take place just like i

I’ve seen SLIH twice with TDF  balcony seats and they’ve been good. The show is so big that you quickly forget you’re sitting in the balcony.

Ordered 2 for a Beautiful Noise for Mon 7/3. I couldn’t believe the full prices they are charging and I figured i would take my chances with a $59 ticket seat over paying full price for a bad seat. I’m figuring they may be partial view tickets. Anyone know if they are really bad?

Anyone seeing a first performance post-Tony win tonight?  Jun 14 2023, 03:03:46 PM

I believe the day before the Tony awards, Betsy may have gone on for Bonnie for both Sat performances. I read somewhere that Bonnie was fighting off a cold and couldn’t hit the notes but it might have been the only time she’s been out.

Side note: Has Betsy ever gone on for Bonnie? Also, I've seen on IG that Emily Koch (married to Jim Hogan) is a Pattie/Debra u/s) ...wonder why she isn't listed on the website.

This is debuting at LaJolla later this year. Any info on this one besides its based on Sinclair Lewis novel? Any known readings or workshops yet?

You can’t go by 1 song. KA has 3 songs that would have sold this show instantly. One had profanity in it, so it would have been censored. One that the e

How you can think Goodnight Oscar and Prima Facie are "schlock," but Some Like it Hot is not BOGGLES my mind. Sure it's funny, but they'r

Tony Awards aftermath  Jun 12 2023, 07:16:18 AM

I checked TDF before the major awards were announced last night and KA and Shucked, both on TDF regularly, were already gone. KA has been a marketing challenge from the start and it should now be set for the remainder of the summer. I think many people don’t realize that they have been open since the fall and while hanging on, they haven’t flourished financially. Hopefully these we’ll deserved awards will achieve that. Not sure that Shucked was helped much with that Tony prt

The 76th Tony Awards SNUBS!  Jun 11 2023, 11:41:52 PM

Everyone who won totally deserved their awards. No snubs, just an abundance of talent out there right now.

The 76th Annual TONY Awards!  Jun 11 2023, 11:40:09 PM

Kimberly Akimbo is finally off TDF!  Happy for them, but sad for me who wanted to see it another 4 times! Great win!

Musical Performances on the 2023 Tony Awards  Jun 11 2023, 04:11:33 PM

Victoria posted a pic of her and Justin sitting on the bean bag chairs yesterday but when I posted on her account if they were doing Anagram she responded “ it’s a secret”. I don’t feel that song is a great showcase for this musical but I’m guessing that This Time would require the skating rink which would entail much greater expense. Hopefully they spent the $.
