Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/6/22  Nov 9 2022, 05:02:56 PM

Lot666 said: "Can Cameron Mackintosh bring himself to officially pull the plug on Phantom (i.e., actually put February 18 on sale),with the show now consistently earning $1 million+ per week and posting the highest capacity on Broadway?"

I say this as a die hard Phan that wished it didnt have to close: the question is what would the grosses be if it wasnt closing, I doubt it would be doing that kind of business. Also booked for the 35th anniver

BCEFA FLEA MARKET 2022 COLLECTORS UNITE!!  Sep 23 2022, 04:52:35 PM

friend is hitting the Phantom booth for me, hope to score something good, given this will be the last time they have a table.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/18/22  Sep 22 2022, 04:27:00 PM

I wonder how long Phantom will extend. Miss Saigon played about a month longer, I think Les Miz extended for a couple months, would not be shocked if Phantom played into late spring

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/22/22  May 27 2022, 02:53:45 PM

Glad to see many shows recovering post COVID. I wonder how much longer Chris Harper will be able to pay Patti's salary tho

Stage Door Exits In Covid 19 World  May 27 2022, 02:45:25 PM

Many casts are stage dooring again, its a show by show decision.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/1/22  May 6 2022, 01:55:45 PM

Phantom is not doing "record low" business

Pamela Anderson on 'The View' talks about joining 'Chicago'  Apr 7 2022, 05:03:45 PM

One thing I respected  about Cameron Mackintosh,he didn't resort to stunt casting to try to keep Cats, Les Miz, Miss Saigon or Phantom running. I love Chicago but it seems pretty clear that stunt casting is the only reason this show is still able to run, and I think that has led to a lack of quality in the show overall, compared to where it was in the late 90s

Signed playbills via mail  Feb 2 2022, 04:16:37 PM

If you are trying to get an entire cast to sign a playbill mailed in I would suggest the following: send a playbill in the package you want signed, include a return mailer with postage already paid and include a copy of a receipt showing you made a donation to BCEFA .

FORBES on the bleakness of Broadway box office right now: Some Broadway shows are grossing under $100K per week  Nov 19 2021, 03:59:25 PM

Phantom has had several nearly full/full houses since reopening

Phantom of the Opera Overture  Nov 11 2021, 02:42:57 PM

Staging has not changed. The dust covers are removed just before the chandelier begins to rise.

Phantom to change to  Oct 3 2021, 10:05:40 AM
Phantom's broadway site has been updated, the creative team section now includes the individuals involved in the new London version, not sure what that means, but I assume with only a few weeks left to go before opening, if the Broadway production was being scaled down it would have been reported on by now. I mean, that would be news worthy right?
Phantom to change to  Sep 21 2021, 04:23:56 PM

It would take more than one month, Phantom opens on Oct.22nd, to load out the original production, build and install the new sets, (the new London version is using sets that were already built for the new tour) complete the tech process with actors,,etc...Now, could I see the show closing in a year or two and then being revived in a scaled down version in a smaller house like was done with Les Miz, Cats, and Miss Saigon? yes

Mrs. Doubtfire is gonna get protested  Sep 20 2021, 01:59:53 PM

what doesnt get protested? This show isnt anti trans

Phantom to change to  Jun 22 2020, 12:43:49 PM
I think Les Miz is not a good comparison, in that while I agree the production design and direction were terrific, Les Miz was a show primarily loved for its score, there were several versions of Les Miz that were practically staged concerts and they did very well. Not to take anything away from Phantom's score, as it is my personal favorite, but I think the success of Phantom is less driven primarily by its score and more by the alchemy of its parts, the legendary production design, the brillia
Phantom to change to  Jun 22 2020, 11:14:03 AM
Cameron is the lead producer, for the productions in London and Broadway. We know that he has a track record of scaling down the other "mega musicals" he produced: Cats, Les Miz, and Miss Saigion, and we have gotten a scaled down Phantom but thankfully, only a tour. (So far) While I wouldn't put it past him to want to cut costs and royalty payments by replacing the OG Phantom with a scaled down version, it seems very short sighted to me, yes it would be cheaper to run but I can't imagine a scale
1776 Broadway revival cast for 2021  Apr 16 2020, 04:10:42 PM

This makes Hamilton look so out dated, I mean they haven't even had one "non binary" principal in their cast yet, so old fashioned. Personally, I'm waiting for the Fredrick Douglass musical starring Meryl Streep as Douglass. After all, art is about pushing boundaries, and while you might argue that you push boundaries and pose questions though the story and characters, that's kinda challenging ,turns out casting a "non gender comforing" person to play Thomas Je

Disney on Broadway Concert Canceled  Apr 11 2020, 08:17:00 PM
In 2003 members of @ActorsEquity stood in solidarity with @The_AFM to support fair pay for musicians. Now the AFM refuses to allow a @BCEFA charity event to move forward that would raise money for the ENTIRE theatre community. Sad! @disneybroadway
Red Bucket Follies Collections  Nov 13 2019, 10:04:13 PM
Took a trip to NYC last week, got a signed poster at Beetlejuice $100, Hadestown playbill $100, Phantom signed poster $60 and a prop newspaper for $20, went to Chicago but they weren't collecting, disappointed because I wanted a signed poster, oh well
Red Bucket Follies Collections  Oct 28 2019, 10:20:50 PM

Coming to NYC from nov. 6th-11th, seeing Beetlejuice, Hadestown, Phantom, and Chicago. Sad to see Beetlejuice isn't on the list of participating shows but definitely hope to pick up a signed poster from Phantom and a signed playbill from Hadestown
