J.K. Rowling is the face of the TERF movement. There is no person alive who is more synonymous with transphobia and the hatred of trans people.

King Lear, Kenneth Branagh – The Shed, 2024 Mar 20

The tragedy of this production is that it's depriving New York of Patrick Page's Lear, which was the most astonishing acting performance I think I've ever seen.

Any actual "lefty liberal" would not use the word "woke" as a pejorative.

It's a time-honored tradition. White shows are "surprisingly good" whereas Black shows are "disappointing".
In reality, Robert O'Hara's production is spectacular, with dozens of artists performing at an insanely hi

100% agree. The night I saw it the audience was openly weeping by the end. Talk about a money printing machine.

Baz should seriously consider suing for stealing his visual concept. Given that the projections were clearly AI-generated, it's not unbelievable that they pulled directly from his film.

APPROPRIATE Previews Dec 4

Thought this was outstanding overall, and am very excited to go back later in the run. It's sort of a demented parody of Foote's Dividing the Estate or Letts' August: Osage County, with BJJ's typical snarling nastiness upping the stakes to truly absurd degrees of cruelty. There's almost a Real Housewives or Jerry Springer quality to the amount of debasement we have to watch these characters go through: it's both delicious and genuinely upsetting.

Santino Fontana and Judy Kuhn in I can get it for you wholesale Oct 21

The ending of this version of the show is significantly different from the original, which concluded with Ruthie and Harry walking offstage hand-in-hand. I think they added text from the original novel to darken Harry's character, particularly in the trial scene. But Weidman's original book is a sort of dark comedy itself — this new version is a tragedy.

Sondheim/Ives HERE WE ARE @ The Shed Sep 29
2023, 01:06:46 PM
The production is well-suited for the high-tech "Shed" and there is nothing set to play there until Branagh's Lear next fall. I have to imagine that the intention is to extend the run there instead of an expensive Broadway transfer.
As for the show, the first act is terrific. The second is also there. That makes it just like every Sondheim show! (kidding, but am I really?)
