The Whole Backstage Theatre announces auditions for the second TAKE THE STAGE amateur talent competition this summer, for amateur performers of all kinds from Alabama and surrounding states.

The 2010 TAKE THE STAGE talent competition will take place in June at the Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville, with preliminary rounds on June 3, 4, and 5, with the final competition round on Sunday, June 6. The contest is open to individuals and groups - age eight (8) years and up. Talent can be any type of amateur entertainment (singing, dancing, bands/ instrumental music, martial arts, comedy, dramatic performance, etc.) suitable for a family audience.

Up to sixty acts will be selected to compete in the preliminary rounds from the audition entries submitted. Acts will be evaluated and scored by a panel of judges which will include local and regional representatives of education, business, politics, and the entertainment industry. The ten top scoring acts from the preliminary rounds will advance to the final round of competition, to vie for first, second and third place cash and prizes totaling at least $1,000.

The audition period for TAKE THE STAGE is from Monday, March 8 until Saturday, May 8. Applicants can mail in or deliver a video audition with their form and entry fee, or can take advantage of live audition dates at the Whole Backstage Theatre on April 3, April 17, May 1, and May 8. The entry form, contest rules and guidelines, and live audition details can be downloaded from the Whole Backstage web site - www.wholebackstage.com - or can be picked up at the theater office during normal business hours.
