Wetumpka Depot Players to Present BLITHE SPIRIT, Begin. 9/26
The Wetumpka Depot Players are conjuring up a hilarious haunting for River Region audiences. Written in 1941, Noel Coward's sparkling classic, Blithe Spirit.
After a "spirited" séance goes decidedly wrong, the cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine suddenly finds himself face to face with the ghost of his deceased wife, Elvira...much to the chagrin of his current spouse, Ruth. Love and marriage devolve into laughter and mayhem when Ruth is accidentally killed and united with Elvira on the "other side." Together the paranormal pair of blithe spirits haunt their hapless husband with laughable consequences. The show is a perfect mix of supernatural meets suburbia.
Offering an evening of fast-paced, comical interaction with the spirit world, the witty production features a cast of new comers to the Depot stage as well as veterans of the Depot and other River Region stages. Directed by William Harper, the show features a talented ensemble featuring Lee Bridges, Sherida Black, Michael Dilaura, Meghan Ducote, Cheryl Kiser and Leanna Wallace. Madame Arcati, the eccentric bike-riding spiritualist who summons Elvira from the grave is played by well-known River Region theatre mainstay, Fiona Macleod.
Show dates are September 26-28, October 3-5, 10-12 at 7:30pm and October 6 at 2pm. Tickets are just $10 in advance and $12 at the door and online.
