KVS Holds Afropean Casting Call

KVS is looking for young acting talent for Afropean // Human Being, a new creation with try outs in June 2019, premiering in February 2020.

Afropean// Human Being is the first theater piece written by Sukina Douglas. It's presenting the coming of age story of a young woman (Saira). Moving to a big city to go to university, she gets involved in the buzzing slam poetry scene that inspires her to take a critical journey into her own heritage, present and future. This thoroughly transforms her relationships with her mother, her best friend from back home (Chloé) and her new friend (Micah), a young slam poet and activist. The play will be written and staged in English. It will be produced by KVS in Brussels.

Playing age: 18 - 20 years old
Of African origin
Fluency in English

A young woman for the role of Chloé:
Playing age: 18 - 20 years old
White appearance
Fluency in English

A young man for the role of Micah:
Playing age: 18 - 25 years old
Black or mixed-race appearance
Fluency in English

*'Playing age' means: the actors can be older, as long as they can credibly interpret a character of the indicated age.

First rehearsal phase: Starting 6/5/2019
First try-outs: 14-15/6/2019
Second rehaersal phase: Starting 13/1/2020
Shows: 14-15-18-19/02/2020
Tour: dates tbd (season 2020-2021)

Auditions will take place at KVS BOX, Arduinkaai 7 Quai aux Pierres de Taille, 1000 Brussels.
