After a nationwide search, Baltimore Center Stage is excited to announce Stephanie Ybarra has been tapped to become the theater's next Artistic Director. Ybarra comes to Baltimore Center Stage from The Public Theater in New York, where she currently serves as Director of Special Artistic Projects. She will transition to Center Stage beginning in October, and join the staff full-time in December.

Applications for the 2019 Rising Star Performing Arts Competition are now available in the Explore | Opportunities for Artists & Arts Groups section at hocoarts.org. Applications may also be requested from the Arts Council by phone at 410-313-2787 or via email atinfo@hocoarts.org. The early no-fee application deadline is October 1, 2018. Applications submitted between October 2 and the final deadline ofNovember 1 must be accompanied by a $10 application fee.

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is seeking nominations for the 2018 Howie Awards honoring individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the arts in Howard County. The awards will be presented at the Celebration of the Arts in Howard County on March 23, 2019 in front of an audience comprised of members of Howard County's arts, education, government and business communities. Wells novel, a group of plane crash survivors end up on a seemingly deserted beach with only the clothes on their backs. They begin searching the island for supplies, but they quickly learn that they are not alone. This show uses movement, sound, and text to craft a chilling atmosphere that is sure to haunt audiences long after the curtains close.
