Way Off Broadway Hosts Spring Youth Theatre Classes, Kicks Off 4/14

As Frederick continues to grow, so does the interest in the performing arts. But not just to go see a show, to be in one. To learn how it all works. And no one is more interested than the area's youth. Theatre acting classes are becoming more and more popular so it is very important for parents to find just the right one for their children.

Since the Way Off Broadway Actors' Studio first began offering classes in the fall of 2003, the goal has always been to provide an introduction to theatre for young students and prepare them for future involvement in the area of live entertainment. Classes are designed to focus on theatre techniques and acting through specific acting exercises and theatre training games. Improvisation is a great part of these exercises and encourages students to work creatively, individually and with others. Improvisation is used for beginners, as well as, advanced students. Musical Theatre classes were later added to integrate all of the aspects of musical theatre through vocal music, acting exercises, and basic choreography.

The Actors' Studio has announced its Spring 2010 classes.

WEDNESDAY

DRAMA (Ages 7 - 12)
4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
$175 per student

WEDNESDAY

MUSICAL THEATRE (Ages 9 - 15)
5:45 - 7:15 p.m.
$240 per student
Instructor: Jordan Stocksdale
Classes will meet on: April 14, 21, 28; May 5, 12, 19, 26; June 2
Classes meet once a week for an eight week session. Registration is done on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be done by stopping by the theatre in person or by calling the Box Office at (301) 662-6600. Space is limited, so don't wait too long to register.
