Artscape – July 20 – 22, 2012 (www.artscape.org)

Baltimore’s Artscape is a three-day arts festival that features theater performances, concerts on outdoor stages, dance, film, fashion, crafts, outdoor sculpture, photography, video gaming, street theater, and family events. It isAmerica’s largest free arts festival and attracts over 350,000 attendees. There’s plenty of food and plenty of entertainment over all three days. Take a stroll through the arts this summer at Artscape.

Annapolis Summer Garden Theater (www.summergarden.com)

In summer, everyone heads out doors. So does theater at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater in historicAnnapolis. This summer, enjoy two outdoor productions: Tony award winner “Avenue Q” runs from July 5 – July 29, and “Xanadu” runs from August 9 – September 2.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre ( www.ccbcmd.edu/cockpit)

If your budget is tight, don’t rule out theater this summer. The productions at Cockpit in Court on the campus of the Community Colleges of Baltimore County inEssexproduce professional productions at family friendly prices. Adult tickets run $18 – $20 and children 12 and under are $12. Their three stages this summer will feature: “The King and I” from June 15 – July 1; “Sunset Boulevard” from July 20 – August 5; “Doctor Dolittle” from July 13 – July 22; “Steel Magnolias” from June 22 – July 1; and “Laura” from July 27 – August 5.

At theYoungVicTheater, it’s all Gilbert & Sullivan all the time. Since 1971, Young Vic has staged a summer performance of a Gilbert & Sullivan production. And who doesn’t enjoy those tongue twisting songs and numerous plot twists that only this pair could envision. You don’t have to be the very model of a modern Major General to lose yourself to the wit and brilliant silliness of Gilbert & Sullivan. This summer enjoy “The Mikado” from July 14 – July 22 at Centennial Hall on the campus ofBrynMawrSchool.

Pumpkin Theatre (www.pumpkintheatre.com)

Summer time is family time and one great family past time since 1967 is Pumpkin Theatre. Founded as part of the Drama Department at the College of Notre Dame inMaryland, Pumpkin Theatre continues to bring top quality children’s theater toBaltimorefamilies. This summer, take the kids or grandkids to the classic “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” which runs from June 16 – June 24.
