November 2010. Stoop Storytelling and CENTERSTAGE present O Little Town of Baltimore: A Live Radio Show to ring in the holidays, for eight shows only, December 9 through 19.

This one-of-a-kind holiday variety show will feature old-time sketch comedy performed by the Stoop Radio Players-many of them members of the Baltimore Improv Group with live sound effects from the Stoop radio players and performances from Baltimore musicians. The line up changes each weekend, with two different radio dramas and guests. Singer/songwriter ellen cherry will appear both weekends, joined by Nepalese singer Prem Raja Mahat and barbershop quartet BSQ from Dundalk's Chorus of the Chesapeake December 9 through 12, and R & B a capella trio West Ave and Persian classical musician Ahmad Borhani December 16 through 19.

And it wouldn't be The Stoop without a collection of true, personal tales from some of Baltimore's own. Among the eight shows will be 40 different local storytellers telling 40 different stories of holiday highs and lows, and everything in between. Storytellers come from all walks of life, from writers and musicians to students and doctors-everyday people with a story to tell. Also, during each show, three audience members get a chance to come onstage and share their own holiday tales.

Artistic Director Irene Lewis selected The Stoop as CENTERSTAGE's holiday offering because of the diversity of the series, and because of the appeal of the community tales: "I'm intrigued by local storytelling, and I'm interested in something holiday oriented without being necessarily religious. There's enough of that out there. So a holiday version of Stoop seemed refreshing."

Aaron Henkin of "The Signal" on WYPR-FM will host the show-and WYPR will broadcast it at 12 pm and 7 pm on December 17 and 24. Doors open one hour prior to show for live music and cocktails. Tickets are $20 (general admission), and can be purchased from the CENTERSTAGE box office at 410.332.0033 or at www.centerstage.org.

The Stoop Storytelling Series is supported by The Jewish Times, Style Magazine, City Paper, and WYPR. Press images for the show can be found at www.centerstage.org/stoopholiday or stoopstorytelling.com/press_kit.
