Spotlighters is thrilled to host Dr. Ira Hauptman, the author of PARTITION, at a Talk-Back following the Sunday, March 21, matinee. Dr. Ira Hauptman will be present to answer questions about the writing of PARTITION. Audience members may also address questions to the cast and crew of PARTITION. The performance begins at 2pm, the Talk-Back will begin at approximately 4:45pm

Dr. Hauptman is a professor in the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance at Queens College, New York.

Ira Hauptman is a graduate of Harvard College and has an MFA and DFA from the Yale School of Drama. His plays have been performed at the Manhattan Theatre Club and the Ensemble Studio Theatre; in Los Angeles at the Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theatre, FirstStage, Odessy and Moving Arts; in Berkeley at the Aurora Theatre; and in San Francisco at the Magic Theatre. His plays have also been produced in Paris, Brussels and Bangalore.

Dr. Hauptman has received two play commissions from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science and Technology Project. The first was for PARTITION about the early twentieth century mathematicians Ramanujan and Hardy. PARTITION was published by Playscripts in 2006. The second was for STARRY MESSENGER about the recantations of Galileo.

Dr. Hauptman has written for the Partisan Review, The New Republic, Parabasis and other magazines. He has taught theatre at Yale, Cornell and the University of California, Riverside.
