Silhouette Stages Presents RENT, 10/25-11/4
Silhouette Stages (SSI) will present Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical/rock opera "RENT."
Set in the Lower East Village of New York City, "Rent" has become a pop cultural phenomenon featuring one of the most memorable rock scores in American musical theatre history. Based on Puccini's La Bohème, "Rent" follows a year in the life of a group of friends; bohemian artists struggling to survive and create in New York's Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Larson's ahead-of-its-time story bravely takes on an age-old narrative; the search for love, acceptance, freedom and identity, while faced with fear, illness, betrayal and loss. Larson spent the last years of his life giving a new voice to these familiar dreams and conflicts, which resulted in this life-changing, groundbreaking musical, and continues to resonate today… and will tomorrow. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "Rent" is theatre at its best – exuberant, passionate, and joyous.
Shows – 10/25-11/4: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.
