RED BRANCH THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES NEW SPECIAL EVENTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH DEAR EDWINA

Various special events have been announced to occur in conjunction with Red Branch Theatre Company's upcoming production of Dear Edwina. Parents' Night Out PJ Parties will take place on both Fridays. Parents may drop their children off at the theatre at 7 PM to stay up until 11 PM. Students will watch the show under the supervision of Drama Learning Center's engaging staff of instructors. After the show, they will have the opportunity to meet the cast for autographs, followed by activities including drama games, crafts, and more. The Parents' Night Out party on October 25 will have a Halloween theme. Kids are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes and will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat on the set and around the theatre after the show. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume to participate in a Halloween costume contest immediately following the performance on Sunday, October 27. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, as well as for everyone who participates.

Tickets are currently on sale for Dear Edwina. This charming show-within-a-show chronicles Edwina Spoonapple's quest to woo a talent scout by giving musical advice for the neighborhood from her garage. She counsels her community of Paw Paw, Michigan on everyday etiquette through zany songs and dances produced by the Spoonapple Repertory Theatre. While Dear Edwina, Jr. is a favorite of school Drama Departments, the full version with adult actors is rarely produced. This production marks the area premiere of the fully staged production of this title, which received two Drama Desk Award Nominations for its Off-Broadway run in 2009.

Dear Edwina is presented with permission through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. It is the third mainstage production in the 2013 season, entitled "Write On." Red Branch Theatre Company is a professional non-Equity theatre located in Columbia, Maryland. Dedicated to fostering a love of theatre in audiences that is life-long, the company strives to bring together artists and audiences in the Baltimore/Washington community and beyond by providing theatrical work that is exciting, affordable, powerful and thought-provoking.
