Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, REMIX
Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present The Island of Dr. Moreau, Remix. In this modern adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells novel, a group of plane crash survivors end up on a seemingly deserted beach with only the clothes on their backs. They begin searching the island for supplies, but they quickly learn that they are not alone. This show uses movement, sound, and text to craft a chilling atmosphere that is sure to haunt audiences long after the curtains close.
The Island of Dr. Moreau, Remix was originally written in 1896, and has since become a staple of early science fiction. It explores many ethical dilemmas, such as animal rights, moral responsibility, and what it means to be human. Director Julie Herber is ecstatic to bring such important issues to the stage. "Science fiction has always been a way to teach people about the darker aspects of modern technology, and Dr. Moreau is more relevant than ever. The real horror is that the story is so plausible."
The Island of Dr. Moreau, Remix opens on Friday, August 3 and runs until Saturday, August 11 every Thursday through Saturday at 7pm and Sundays at 3pm, with performances at The Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org or in person at the MET box office. Come celebrate the pains of growing up with this catchy and hilarious musical.
