Laurel Mill Playhouse to Launch ProtoStars Youth Theater Program; Auditions Begin 7/27

Laurel Mill Playhouse (LMP) announces ProtoStars, an exciting youth theater program targeted at ages 6-16. The program is designed to foster the various talents of the community's young people to develop the Stars of LMP, today and forward.

The ProtoStars program kicks off with an open audition for all ages, an opportunity for anyone to show their talents to LMP directors for future casting and with ProtoStars consideration for ages 6-16) on July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the LMP stage. The ProtoStars program will commence on August 3 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. for the youth who are admitted to the program (Note: there is no charge for the ProtoStars program, if admitted, but some incidental costs may be incurred for things like costumes, make-up, etc.). Casting for a ProtoStars Production will be announced at the August 3 meeting. ProtoStars Rehearsals will run on Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. from August 10 through September 14 and technical and final rehearsals will be the week of September 16 through 21.

The ProtoStars will present a preview of their production on September 21 and 22 and will open with the full production on Saturday, September 28. Additional dates for the production will be announced at a later date.

ProtoStars will be an on-going program with various productions, providing many opportunities for interested people to get involved. If you've ever wanted to share your gifts with an audience - on stage or backstage - come to the open audition on July 27.

Originally organized 35 years ago as the Burtonsville Players, Inc., the Laurel Mill Playhouse produces community-driven productions in a completely renovated, 100-year-old home in the middle of historic Laurel, Maryland at 508 Main Street.
