Everyman Theatre Continues 'The World of the Play' with MUST THE SHOW GO ON? Panel Today

Today, March 8th, Everyman Theatre welcomes top-level theatrical professionals for its panel discussion entitled "Must the Show Go On?." The panel is a part of the new discussion series, The World of the Play, which began earlier this season.

Joining host and moderator Marc Steiner will be three experienced theatrical leaders: Kyle Prue (Director of Production, Everyman Theatre), Julie Potter (costume designer of Everyman's production of The Dresser), and Suzanne Herbert-Forton (professional dresser at the Hippodrome Theatre). The panel discussion takes place this Saturday, March 8th at 5 PM at Everyman Theatre.

The panel discussion is inspired by Everyman's upcoming production of Ronald Harwood's backstage tale, The Dresser. The discussion will delve into the unique and indescribable drive behind theatrical artists and the unbelievable (but true!) stories of backstage life in theatre today. After this discussion, you'll never be able to watch a show in the same way again!

Kyle Prue is the Director of Production and Casting Director at Everyman where he has cast and produced over 40 Everyman productions. He also teaches acting at Towson University. He is a founding member of the Everyman Theatre Resident Acting Company, having performed in over 20 Everyman productions including Pygmalion, Opus, A Number, Lonely Planet, Amadeus, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, The Glass Menagerie, Visiting Mr. Green and The Crucible. He portrayed Henry Fleming in the national tour of The Red Badge of Courage, and he has appeared regionally at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Arena Stage, The Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Signature Theatre, Studio Theatre, and Theatre of the First Amendment. He can be seen in the films The Pelican Brief and Tuck Everlasting, and heard on over 300 unabridged audio book recordings in many genres including American classics, crime fiction, courtroom dramas, and contemporary non-fiction.

Julie Potter most recently designed the costumes for Everyman's production of The Dresser. Earlier this season, she also designed the costumes for The Glass Menagerie. She is a Costume Design Professor at Towson University, where she has designed for Spring Awakening, The Glass Menagerie, The Bacchae, What Once We Felt, Macbeth, Rent, Kaspar, and Elephants Graveyard. Regionally she has also designed for Iron Crow Theatre Company, Muhlenberg College and Summer Music Festival, Theatre Outlet, Lyric Stage Company of Boston and PCPA Theatrefest.

Suzanne Herbert-Forton has been a working artist in Baltimore for 30 years. Upon graduating college with a BA in fine art/art history, Suzanne got a job in a hand weaving studio, where she met a colleague who worked as a dresser in Baltimore theaters. This colleague recommended Suzanne for her first dresser job. Suzanne has been working in theatrical wardrobe ever since. She currently works at the Hippodrome Theatre as a dresser for the touring productions that visit the theatre. Suzanne is also active in teaching. She has participated in the Maryland State Arts Council Artist in Education program as a residency artist since 2002.

Radio personality Marc Steiner (The Marc Steiner Show) moderates the World of the Play series. In the 20 years since his show began airing, Marc Steiner has become one of the most recognized voices in Maryland and has gained national acclaim for his insightful style of interviewing. Mr. Steiner also has a deep understanding for theatre; he taught theatre for ten years at the Baltimore School for the Arts.

The Dresser will begin performances on February 26th and will run through March 23rd, offering performances Wednesday through Sunday, with selected Tuesday evening performances.
