Children's Playhouse of Maryland Presents MARY POPPINS, Beginning Today

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc., in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, stages Mary Poppins for its 2015 holiday fare. Mary Poppins will run at 1 p.m. on the weekends of Dec. 5 -6, 12-13, 19 and 20 with additional performances at 4:30 p.m. on Dec 6 and 20 and at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12. All performances will be held in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Tickets are $10 each and are available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-2787 (ARTS) or online at www.cpmarts.org.

Based on the 1964 Disney movie and the original novel by P. L. Travers, Mary Poppins, is a lighthearted musical recounting the adventures of nanny Mary Poppins with her magic bag of tricks, the Banks' children, Jane and Michael, who have driven away several nannies, and the irrepressible chimney sweep Bert. The show features such memorable tunes, such as, "Spoonful of Sugar," "Step in Time," and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

Ilyssa Rubin of Reisterstown, Md. appears as Mary Poppins and Charlie Holt of Kingsville, Md. is Bert. Also featured are Madi Heinemann of Ellicott City, Md. and Sammy Jungwirth of Nottingham, Md. as Jane and Michael Banks. Nathan Beyer of Fallston, Md. plays the children's father George Banks and Claire Iverson of Baltimore, Md. is cast as Winifred Banks, the children's mother.

Other student actors in this production include: Louise Baron, Ava Correlli, Emily Davis, Jared Davis, Julia Egan, Eva Hellerbach, Ethan Holler, Gwen Lowell, Rachel Miller and Elliott Whitman of Baltimore, Md., Erin Acerno of Bel Air, Md., Colleen, Rachel and Thomas Beyer and Madison Kuehn of Fallston, Md., Matt and Zachary Byrd of Halethorpe, Md., Emily Hester, Rhiannon Owen and Emily Ricci of Nottingham, Md., Carly Dagilis of Owings Mills, Md., Allison Mudd and Autumn Cole of Parkville, Md., Dylan Morrison and Gracie and Olivia Aubele of Perry Hall, Md., Will Foohey of Pikesville, Md., Angela Boeren of Rosedale, Md., Katie Doyle, Grace and Rose Glennon, Kathryn Schudel and Maia Vong of Towson, Md. Olivia Lockett of White Marsh, Md.

Liz Boyer Hunnicutt directs this production, with musical direction by Sherry Benedek and choreography by Amanda Dickson.

A highlight of this holiday program is a Brunch with Santa at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 20. [Tickets for the Dec. 19 Brunch with Santa are SOLD OUT.] The price is $12 for the Brunch with Santa only, and $17 for Brunch with Santa and a ticket to the 1 p.m., Dec. 20 show.
