CSC Announces Casting for Lear/Shrew; Prepares for Summer Shakespeare in the Park

By:

The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company has announced the casting of its two summer offerings, The Tragedy of King Lear and The Taming of the Shrew.  The two plays will be presented in true repertory fashion with the same company of actors appearing in both plays on a relatively alternating schedule.

Never a group to present bland interpretations of Shakespeare or other classics, the CSC will present the pair as follows:  King Lear will be directed by Ian Gallanar, and will emphasize the robustness and humor in the script.  Director Patrick Kilpatrick, who helms Taming of the Shrew plans to depict every different kind of love one can imagine.

The casting is as follows - Actor/Lear Role/Shrew Role (CSC Company Members are denoted with *): Russ Addis/Tom/Tailor, Peter, Other Servants; *Bob Alleman/The Fool/Biondello; Steve Beall/Kent/Baptista; *Kevin Costa/Burgandy, Jack/Grumio; Jenny Crooks/Ruth,Molly/Trania; *Val Fenton/Cordelia/Nichola, other servants; Ashly Ruth Fishell/Mary, Simone/Bianca; *BJ Gailey/France, Messenger/Petruchio; *Scott Graham/Cornwall/Lucentio; Chris Graybill/Gloucester/The Pedant; Jenny Leopold/Regan/The Widow; *Lesley Malin/Goneril/not appearing in Shrew; Frank Mancino/Albany/Gremio; *Kate Michelson/Sarah/Katharina; *Frank Moorman/King Lear/Vincentio; *Christopher Niebling/Edmund/Nathaniel, other servants; Jacob Rothermel/Oswald/Hortensio; *John Sadowski/Curran/Haberdasher, Philip, other servants; *Wayne Willinger/Edgar/Curtis
