The Community College of Baltimore County's October kicks off with CCBC Essex Academic Theatre's production of two one acts: THE BALD SOPRANO by Ionesco and NO EXIT by Sartre running October 21 to 26. Next, Dundalk Community Theatre presents the Tony Award-winning musical comedy THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE from October 29 to November 7. Coming November 10 to 13, you can catch the political farce ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST by Dario Fo at CCBC Catonsville Academic Theatre. CCBC's popular Friday Music Forum continues in October with the Unified Jazz Ensemble on October 8, Shodekeh presenting 'Embody: A Concert of the Vocal Arts' on October 15, the Ravel Trio will perform on October 22, and classical guitarist Bret Williams rounds out the month on October 29. Stay tuned for November when Japanese aesthete Shizumi will be among our guest artists. All performances take place at 12:20 pm at Essex, Building E, RecitAl Hall. The CCBC Dance Company will present 'Synergy 6: Fall Dance Concert' on November 18 at 10 am and November 19 and 20 at 8 pm. All performances will take place at CCBC Dundalk, Building K, John E. Ravekes Theatre. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $5 for seniors, students, and CCBC faculty, staff, and alumni. For tickets or more information, call the Box Office at (443) 840-ARTS (2787). As part of the World Arts Festival, the November 18 performance will feature guest artist Naimah.

On October 19 at 2:20 pm in the J Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, come and experience Derrick Brown, Anis Mojgani, and Buddy Wakefield as they present what has been described as "a rock concert, improv show, dance party, and poetry reading all rolled into one." This performance is sponsored by CCBC's School of Liberal Arts, Student Honors Council, Phi Theta Kappa, Multicultural Student Association, and the Office of Student Life. On Tuesday, October 19, from 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m., experience the grace, strength and humor of 2,000 years of Japanese arts and culture as Shizumi Shigeto Manale offers a window into the heart of the Japanese aesthetic. Shizumi is Artistic Consultant to the National Cherry Blossom Festival Opening Ceremonies and her documentary, 'Geisha: An Artist's Journey,' aired on PBS in 2007. This presentation will take place on the Catonsville Campus in the Q Building Lounge.

From November 15 to 19, all three campuses of CCBC will present music and dance performances to celebrate arts from around the globe. Artists slated to appear include Piscataway Indian Nation's Turtle Island Dancers, Furia Flamenca, Ewabo Caribbean Steel Drum Band, and more.
