Whatever it is you’re doing this summer, enjoy it. Take time to care and tend to yourself in ways that you’re not able to during the school year. Read, relax, laugh, make memories. Challenge yourself personally and professionally. Restore your zest for life while the sun is still shining!
Learning doesn’t have to be as difficult of a thing as we make it out to be. Find joy in it, practice good study habits, make learning fun and interesting for you. When you find ways to make learning enjoyable and not a chore, there’s no need to cheat. Do it for yourself!
Being a theater major, or being in a top program, does not define who you are as a performer or as a creative person. Staying inspired and continuing to immerse yourself in art despite all else is all that matters.
We all have the power to push through and persevere through trying and busy times in our lives. With just a little effort and motivation, we can do more than we thought was possible.
Humans need other humans. There is no way around it. We need people to share our victories with and grovel in our sadness with. Life is made up of so many different experiences, and all of those experiences are made better when someone you love is by your side.
In my own life, I have worked day in and day out to try and find a balance and rhythm in handling my responsibilities and relationships. I still don’t have all the answers, but with the help of a few simple things, I have been able to regain control of my life and lead myself with certainty and organization.
Having Jewish stories and Jewish artists shine in the theater and in other works of art is just one of many ways to combat antisemitism, as well as teach the world about what it means to be Jewish now.
Not to sound too much like a poster girl for Greek Life, but if you’re debating rushing a sorority, try it out and keep an open mind. It may surprise you just like it did me.
