Trained at the Boston Conservatory, where he studied musical theatre and dramaturgy, Steven began his career as a professional dancer and singer. He appeared on Broadway in A Chorus Line as Bobby, performed as a soloist at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, and served as Cruise Director for American Hawaii Cruises.
His career in the theatre later expanded into arts leadership and administration. Steven was Director of Marketing for Paper Mill Playhouse, Managing Director of Actors Theatre of Phoenix, and Director of Marketing and Fundraising for American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
After studying interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, he founded Favreau Design, his full-service interior design firm, and went on to create Real Design Help, an online resource offering professional design guidance to homeowners. His work can be found at www.favreaudesign.com and www.realdesignhelp.com.
Steven also studied creative writing at Hawaii Pacific University. He is a novelist currently completing his debut novel, Swallow House, and a writer and reviewer for BroadwayWorld. His work has also appeared in Fieldfaire and The Harvard Gay & Lesbian Review.
Across disciplines, Steven’s work has always been rooted in a strong visual sensibility, an instinct for storytelling, and a fascination with how character and atmosphere shape an experience.
