From rave reviews when the play premiered on Broadway to Oscar winning performances on screen, A Streetcar Named Desire has now been re-imagined as a ballet. Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) presents a portrayal of clashing cultures in John Neumeier's ballet of Tennessee William's stage play through March 11 at the Benedum Center. This is the first time Neumeier's creation will be performed by an American company and only the second time it's been performed in the U.S. The only other U.S. troops that have danced John Neumeier productions were the American Ballet Theatre (of NY) and the San Francisco Ballet -- two of the largest companies in the U.S.

Josiah Theatre Works presents the world premiere of 'Tribute (Forget Me Not)', a drama with music inspired by the lives of legendary singers Sam Cooke and Donny Hathaway. The show, which plays two performances on April 14, is in part a celebration of Josiah's fourth anniversary of bringing world premiere dramas and musicals to the New York stage.

On Sunday, March 11, the first anniversary of the great Japanese earthquake, Theater Communications Group is organizing performance events nationwide to raise funds for the Japan Playwrights Association to help the Japanese theater community affected by the disaster. Inspired by popular culture in her native Japan and beyond, Yoko d'Holbachie's acrylic on canvas paintings feature candy-colored creatures with wormlike tentacles traveling through fantasy landscapes. Elements of Kawaii, Anime, Pop Art and Surrealism blend together in d'Holbachie's works, an exhibition of which, 'My Strange Goddess,' opens at AFA on April 29.
